Title: Stuffed Animals
Post by: BrinnyTheBrave on October 30, 2017, 06:36:39 PM
Do any of you here collect plushies? I have a fairly big collection of horses and other stuffed animals :) I get just as excited about plushies as I do about MLP :)

I LOVE stuffies!  I have quite a few and still have to hold myself back from buying more all the time, especially Build a Bear.

Yup! I have tons, but only a small percentage were able to come to my house (the rest being stored at my parents).

I collect mostly Disney plushies or dragons. Trying to collect all the Toy Vault Godzilla plushies too. I have a near complete collection of 2000's care bears at my parents and lots of BAB's (mostly ponies). Sometimes I just pick one up because it's adorable.

I love plush too. My favorites are the more realistic style animals. I love to get one when I visit a zoo or aquarium as they are cute and also represent a memory. When my husband(then boyfriend) and I went on vacation to Monterey Bay and visited the aquarium he bought me this awesome cuttlefish and i bought two mini octopi to sort of represent us. They are always holding each others tentacles! I got a really great furry sloth from the local zoo where we went for our engagement photos and we posed with him for a few of the pictures. We went to Monterrey again for our honeymoon and this time they had the most amazing anglerfish plush! So of course one came home with me.
I still have a few of my childhood plush, particularly a somewhat dingy 101 Dalmation puppy Patch. He was such a favorite. I have started a collection of handmade Posey plush due to swaps.

Sadly most of my plush are stuffed in a trash bag as I haven't found a home for them in my new apartment yet. I miss them :(

I don't collect them but I have a small random family. I have quite a few owls, which began five or six years ago when my parents bought me a pink owl to take as a good luck charm to London when I did my Masters degree. He's still here with me, along with a friend I brought back from Innsbruck airport (it was love at first sight, such big bewildered eyes, though getting him back was a bit tricky as he's more than a foot tall...) and they both live on my bed here in London. Now they have another slightly odd friend in the form of Kirimi-chan, who is essentially salmon sashimi. I suggest googling if confused...;)

I admit to having brought too many Pokemon plush back from Japan. One beanie style Lilligant lives here in London with me, along with a tiny fluffball owl my sister gave me and a squirrel I got from Lisbon airport (yes you see a pattern with me and airports O.O). They live on my cabinet.

On my shelf I have a Halloween owl which was a good luck present from sister at the same time as the pink owl. He is in charge of the shelf which also features 2 or 3 dolls, some ponies, and a small critter army of tiny keychain plushes (some of which are sushi, one is ebi-frei, one is a little oyster in a shell. Also some sheep and an alpaca. Most of those are Japanese. Two I brought back with me, the others I bought here.

At home I have three custom plushes made for me of Bleach characters which live on and around my desk. I have two owl plushes that live on my bed...oh, and I have a couple of carebears, mostly given by my sister. I have Good Luck, he's the one I like. Naynie gave me an elephant cousin which she was given for free at a carboot sale and she already had it. I don't collect Care Bears but I've picked up one or two.

And I have pony plush, of course. Most of the G1 plush are in the attic and I would get rid of them but my sister forbids it so they stay. In my room I only have Honeycomb and the three G1 babies, plus a couple of G3 plush including my large Sunny Daze from Australia which I love even though I have no space for her really. One day she will get to come out and flop all over things again.

So those are my meaningful plushies. I have other odd ones here and there and some from childhood, but mostly those are the ones that I have a bond with.

I have 22 Beanie Boo owls (see sig), one toucan and one flamingo. There's also a parrot out that I hope to get soon.
I also have a goose called Wanda from the Blue Nose Friends collection, and a couple of plush ducks from my childhood.
(I love birds)

I've got a few, but I'm looking to maybe sell some of them because they do take up a lot of space!
When Neopets was making plushies I got a handful of those, but I'm not sure if I'd be willing to give them up.

I collect 80's pound puppies and purries.  for awhile I was collecting all the cat beanie babies (as I love cats) but stopped as Ty no longer used the same cat pattern.  Then I have all my childhood stuffed animals too (a few care bears, my pet monster, etc.).

I was young during the Golden Age of Ty beanie babies (90s-early 00s), so I still have quite a stash of them. I got rid of loads, but have kept my favourites: they tend to be the ones with matted fur and scratched-up eyes from where I carried them about with me all the time in my younger days. Such happy memories.

I'm not really into pony plushies for some reason, but I do have a Ty Applejack that I found in a charity shop who is actually one of my favourite ponies. Probably because the day I got her was a really fun day out and seeing her reminds me of it.

I also assist my girlfriend in the care of a small collection of vintage/antique bears etc which she inherited from her grandmother. The oldest of them is a sort of cloth doll who will be 110 years old next year, which I always find sort of mind-blowing. I hope my ponies and other toys are still going strong in 100 years' time! They all live together on a couch, and we joke that is like an old people's home for toys where they spend their days reminiscing about their long lives.

I collect Charlie Bears and Jellycat plush toys, mainly the bashful bunnies. I have 2-3 regular Build a Bears and some branded ones - I recently sold off my MLP BAB collection but still have Care Bears and am collecting the Pokemon ones now. I have tons of miscellaneous Pokemon plush, like TOMY and Pokemon Center ones, there's two big storage boxes full of them in my closet. I try to just stick to my collections and not pick up off-brand stuff but there's always one or two that slip through the net... I'm a tragic plush hoarder!! :P

I love plushies!!

Plushies are my souvenir of choice when I travel. So I currently almost have a plushie from every place I've visited in the last 6 or 7 years. So my souvenir toys include: Dodo, Sheep, Kiwi, Tiger, Brittania, Corgi, French Ted, Palace Guard Ted and Border Collie.

I also collect vintage care bears (as well as the ones hubby gets in skill testers), and pony plush of course, and plushies of characters that are just too adorable in plush form, for example I'm currently eyeing a Chopper plush (from One Piece). I'm also thinking of commissioning a giant Flying Nimbus pillow or bean bag, I'm not sure yet which, but for gaming, because apparently, that's not a thing, and I don't understand why?! And I totally need some Neko Atsume plush in my life. Rabbit hole, meet Stormness!

I used to before I got overwhelmed and severely downsized my collection.  I'm thinking of downsizing my collection some more so I can get some more space.

Yes, plushies are great! I have a small collection of dolphins, which used to be much larger but I reluctantly pared it down to just my favourites to free up some space. They vary quite a bit; there's...
- Vangelis, a 1.2m long fluffy pink dolphin (very cuddly!)
- Behemoth, a tiny one that's about 10cm long and looks weirdly excited all the time
- Phin Diesel, a dolphin holding a life ring that sits in the pocket of a cushion
and Pizzazz, a really nice fluffy orca I got for sponsoring a pod of non-fluffy orcas.
And bucking the trend, I also picked up a little cuddly grim reaper for Halloween; her name is Suzanne. :D

I loooove plushies :D I have lots of them.. I try and be selective about the ones I get nowadays, since they take up a lot of space XD The only ones I really 'collect' are YooHoo and Friends (mostly finished collecting these) and Tsum Tsums, plus my old collections of Aristocats and Lion King plushies (not actively collecting these, either, but I do get new ones once in a while, if I find a particularly nice one I just can't live without XD). Other than that I just get ones I like, instead of specifically seeking them out, if that makes sense.

Plushies are wonderful

I love stuffed animals, I have hundreds of them! I used to collect specific kinds like Nintendo, Pokemon, Hamtaro, etc. But now I like anything that is sufficiently cute and looks good quality. I also used to buy a lot online, but now I'm more fond of buying one when I'm out with someone, to preserve the memory of that day :) So in those cases I'm less picky.

I hope it's alright to share a story about a specific pair of plushies I have here! My three childhood besties came to visit me in Philly for the first time last April. I was showing them around the city, and we stopped at the zoo. At the gift shop, one of my friends and I mutually decided we both wanted stuffed cheetahs. She picked one out and I grabbed one from another brand, but after holding them a bit we decided we both liked the others' cheetahs better, lol. So we traded cheetahs and named them after Greek goddesses - hers is Artemis and mine is Nike. I bought them because I was happy to have something to remember their visit by and wanted to gift her the cheetah. We walked around downtown Philly after that, and she was carrying her cheetah around like no big deal, while I was too embarrassed to do the same...That friend was killed in a freak accident Oct. 9. She was an EMT and her ambulance crashed into a semi. At the service after her funeral, they had some of her things laid out on display, and Artemis was there. I got in contact with her roommate, and he gave the cheetah to me. I didn't like the thought of her getting donated and not going to someone who knew the story behind them. And it felt right that they would stay together.

Artemis is on the left, Nike is the shaggy little one on the right. My friend liked Artemis because of her spots and black ears, I liked Nike because of the cute face.

... No!.... *Holds doors closed to overflowing cupboard full of soft toys* :lookround:
Okay seriously I have far too many but I could never let any of them go. I obviously still have everything from childhood but I've collected a lot more since I've been an adult
I've tried hard to cut down because I just don't have the room for them all but I can't resist certain ones. I like really realistic ones, especially rabbits (can never have enough rabbits!), foxes, deer (basically any woodland animals) and dogs - mostly German Shepherds, Huskies and similar. I also love Bambi and Thumper and I've got a massive Bambi that I bought off of ebay (can't remember if I got him for £5 or £10 now but it was an amazing price.. I imagine he was a lot more new!).
I'm also desperate to collect the Farthing Wood softies but they're so expensive - when they eventually do come up, which is rare. I only have Dash the hare and Mole at the moment.
I've got a couple of Lion King ones but not many (tend to be expensive. Mine are from childhood).
My absolute wish would be to one day get Balto and Jenna (I can dream!) And Spirit and Rain (again, I can dream!)

Yeah I love stuffed animals.  I had a lot as a kid and my Mom made me donate most of them to the salvation army because she said I had too many.  I didn't want to but she basically made me, because of that I don't think I have any of my childhood stuffed animals.  I don't have many now but I have a beautiful white tiger plush I bought at a zoo, I have Stitch and Angel I bought from amazon which originally came from The Disney Store, I have a few MLP plushes from each generation, I have a small unicorn plush I bought from a seller on amazon and my favorite one is a recent purchase of a Disney Store 17 inch Pua plush.  I had a problem getting that one, because of a story I mentioned here before with a Disney Store gift card saying you can use them to make full purchases but they don't advertise that they really want credit card information along with that "in case something happens"  Luckily I had a friend add her credit card information but the card more than covered the purchase price so I knew she wouldn't get charged.

I love going to build a bear but I rarely get to go.

I LOVE plush. I have so many, and everytime my family moves they make me get rid of some and it's so difficult to choose. I feel like theyve always been there for me and giving them away is like giving away a memory : (
I really love build-a-bears, I have a lot of MLP ones and also a couple dogs and a halloween bat. I have a bunny named Coco (the bat + coco are always on my bed) and I have several mlp plushes, lots of pokemon plushes, lots of seahorses and fish...i have bat-plush collection, and a shark-plush collection.. my most recent addition was a small plush bat from carlsbad caverns this summer : )
