Pony Corral / Foam Board Pony Risers Tutorial Now on Instructables!
« on: March 01, 2021, 03:15:09 PM »
Hello everyone!  :)

Some of you may recall my Riser Tutorial from a few years back and even as far back as the old Arena.

I've made a new version over on Instructables and entered it into the First Time Author contest: New Riser Tutorial. Please check it out and maybe vote for it if you like it. If you end up making a set I'd love to see them!

P.S. If this is not allowed please let me know and I'll remove or revise accordingly.

Customs / Perfume Puff Applejack
« on: October 06, 2020, 03:00:21 PM »
I've always wanted custom Applejacks in different styles: Sweetheart Sister, Twice as Fancy, Big Brother, etc. I decided to do a Perfume Puff first since I could use an existing AJ and avoid painting  :lookround:

This was Applejack before. I bought her off eBay tailless, mohawk'd and with Sharpie stains on her hooves. The sharpie had been applied so thoroughly to her front hooves that it leeched up through the vinyl and was visible on display.

And here she is after. She sunfaded for most of the spring and summer with 20 volume peroxide developer then 40 volume. I wrapped her in a towel with just her hooves poking out and applied the developer. After a certain point it seemed like the black had faded as much as it was going to and the vinyl itself looked like it was starting to fade so I called it done. I rehaired her using Lion Brand Super Bulky yarn in Pittsburgh Yellow. Her forelock is nylon hair in Yellow Submarine from TheDollHairPlanet on Etsy.

She didn't end up with as much floof as I would have liked but I think she turned out nice anyway  ^.^

Pony Brag Arena / My First Pony Cabinet
« on: August 19, 2020, 02:11:16 PM »
I've always had to display my ponies on open shelving due to space limitations but now I finally have my first pony cabinets. They're still very much a work in progress, I've only painted 1 of the 4 sections and I'm just putting my ponies in wherever as I get them cleaned up but I'm pretty jazzed with how it looks so far!

Pony Corral / I built a MLP app for a school project!
« on: March 30, 2020, 03:35:18 PM »
I’m in school for software design and for my final project I chose to do a My Little Pony inventory management app. It’s a Django web app with a SQLite database and I’m using Cloudinary for my image storage. The pictures of the ponies belong to Basic Fun and are being used for educational purposes only.

The idea is that a user can select ponies from a list and add them to their virtual collection to keep track of their number and value. When adding a pony the user can input the price of the pony, select their condition from a drop-down menu, and there’s a text area for any additional information they may want to include such as where the pony was purchased.

For now, the My Stats section shows the total value of the collection and total number of ponies. If I continue to work on this later I’d like to include more data like pie charts breaking down the collection by condition, body color, body type, etc.

Anyway, I just wanted to share. Here’s a screenshot of my application:

Thanks for taking the time to read about my project!  ^.^

I didn't see a recent PC on these boxed sets, apologies if there is one.

How much should one expect to pay for these sets still in the boxes?

Pony Corral / G4 Accessory ID, brush and tropical drink
« on: May 10, 2014, 04:03:45 PM »
Can anyone tell me if the drink and the brush in this picture are MLP accessories? I now know the table isn't but I'm curious about the other two. I've browsed accessory ID sites and Googled and I can't seem to find them.

Pony Corral / Blind Bag pony shelves, what would you pay for them?
« on: December 30, 2013, 05:08:08 AM »
I made a couple shelves for my BB ponies and I was considering making some to sell. I just bought a miter saw and it needs to earn its keep lol. I thought I'd see what people would expect to pay for something like this then decide if it would be feasible to knock out a few to sell. I made the shelf spacing to accommodate standard BB ponies so princesses and other large-scale figures would have to sit on the top if you wanted them on the shelf. I decided to do a whitewash/shabby finish on mine but other paint colors are doable.

TL;DR What would you be willing to pay for a shelf custom-made for BB ponies?

EDIT: I've decided to sell these at $30 :) I'll be bringing a few with me to the fair in Nashville on Saturday so if you'd like a set just look for the husband carrying around pony shelves lol. I'm happy to reserve shelves, just let me know and I'll put your username on the list.

Dimensions are 23 3/4" wide by 14" tall. They'll be painted white with a flat finish. Just let me know if you have any questions  ^.^

Trader & Shipping Support / eBay- Sold item, arrived broken- now what?
« on: December 17, 2013, 09:51:18 AM »
I've sold tons of stuff on eBay but this is the first time something I sold arrived broken, it was a glass cookie jar. The buyer just messaged me and is being rather rude about it. They accused me of poorly packaging it. I wrapped it in bubble wrap, made a bed of packing peanuts, put the bubble wrap encased jar on the bed of peanuts then filled in with more peanuts and I put an air packet on each end to keep it from shifting. I closed the box and shook it to make sure it didn't shift around inside. I don't feel that this is poor packaging. They said the box showed no signs of damage so I'm a bit perplexed as to how it was broken. Maybe it was tossed and the shock was transferred to the glass causing it to shatter? I hate that it was broken because it was a cookie jar from my childhood. Sure, I was selling it but only because I'm trying to downsize and I wanted it to go to someone who would enjoy it. It's sickening to think it's just trash now. Confrontation also freaks me out so the fact that they're being a bit aggressive about it has me literally shaking. Gah! I messaged them back apologizing and I asked them to mail it back to me and I'd refund them for the sale price, initial shipping and return shipping. No response yet.

There's also a little niggle in the back of my head wondering if perhaps it really isn't broken and they're just trying to get something for free. That's most likely not the case but at least in that scenario my cookie jar isn't shattered. Ugh, I'm sensing by their attitude that they'll likely leave negative feedback. I've never gotten negative feedback before  :( Can they still leave feedback even if I refund them 100% of their costs? I'm going to have the heebie jeebies until this is resolved  :freak:

Update 12/27- It has been 10 days now since the buyer contacted me with no further contact and no broken cookie jar has arrived in the mail. No case has been filed against me, no negative feedback left, nothing. This is a very strange transaction.

Customs / Pestilence Pony from Robot Chicken *gore warning*
« on: November 29, 2013, 11:51:34 AM »
I'm working on the Apocalypse Ponies from Robot Chicken for my dad (he wants them for Christmas XD). I was wondering if someone might know what the clear pustule-looking things might be? It seems like I've seen something in the floral section at Hobby Lobby that might look similar but I can't put my finger on it.

Do not look if you have a sensitive stomach!

Price Check Archives / G4 PC Ponies with bangs/fringe, accessories
« on: November 29, 2013, 07:32:35 AM »
I was hoping to get a PC on a few G4 things. I've got a few of the ponies with bangs (AJ, Twilight x2, Cheerilee) and some of their accessories. Also, since I have sets such as AJ with her saddle and friend would they sell better as a set or separates? Any help is much appreciated!

Peter S. Beagle was really, really nice. He took the time to talk with me and even signed my book for free. I wish I weren't so socially awkward so I could have contributed to the conversation. I wanted to tell him about how when I was little and I'd catch The Last Unicorn on television I'd always cry during the end credits. The end is sad but I would cry because I knew I wouldn't get to see it again for a long time. This was before DVR and the internet so copies weren't widely available. It was like seeing an old friend then they have to go away again and you're not sure when you'll get to see them next. Maybe it's for the best, I probably would have cried if I'd told him that

The other highlight of my convention, I got my picture taken with Lucy Lawless! I was shocked when I heard she was coming to DragonCon. I figured that'd be my only chance so I went ahead and got a picture. She is every bit as lovely in real life as she is in pictures/TV  :) I wish we could have spent more time with her but we were being herded through about every 7 seconds. I got to say "Hi" and "Thank you" lol

Pony Brag Arena / Custom made blind bag pony shelf and Goodwill finds
« on: June 01, 2013, 09:24:58 AM »
I thought I'd never get these finished! I happened to be in the hardware section getting zip ties to use as boning for a costume when I ran across the perfect hardware to finish my shelves with. I went straight home and finished them. Well, one set anyway. I have two more to go but finishing one was good motivation :) I scuffed them up a bit after I painted them for a shabby look, I think I like it better than plain old white.

I also found a G1 Spike at Goodwill yesterday! He was in a mixed bag of other toys including some G3.5 and G4 ponies. I've never even seen a Spike in person before. What's funny is I've been looking into getting a Dream Castle lately then I run into this little guy. He's in great shape, he just needs a good wash. The other gals are gorgeous as well but I'll probably be putting them up for sale except perhaps Baby Starsong, she's a different version than the one I have already.

Customs / G1 glitter options for restoration?
« on: March 09, 2013, 09:43:51 AM »
I thought about posting this in the Corral but figured Customs might be a better bet, please move if this is incorrect ^_^

I was out shopping yesterday making the crafting circuit and I ran across some very tempting glitter packs. One I've seen mentioned before was the Martha Stewart pack as seen here http://shop.marthastewart.com/Martha-Stewart-Crafts-Glitter-Multipack-24/A/B002BTWI62.htm I found it at Hobby Lobby.

I visited Joann Fabrics next where I found this set by A La Mode http://www.joann.com/hampton-art-a-la-mode-18-pk-sprinkle-glitter-set/xprd1057054/

I didn't buy either of them, I thought I'd ask around first. They looked pretty fine to me but when I got home I looked at a pony with a glitter symbol and it looks much smaller than any glitter I've ever seen in stores but I could just be remembering the glitter size bigger than it really is. Have any of you ever used either of these glitter brands? Are they close in size and color at all to G1 glitter? If not is there a known G1 glitter match that can be bought online?

I've also been wondering if it's possible to grind glitter to make it finer. Maybe like with a mortar and pestle. I'm not sure it would do anything at all to the glitter but it can't hurt to experiment.

« on: February 23, 2013, 02:28:32 PM »
Look Who showed up in the mail today! I was shocked that I actually got the sparkle variant, I squee'd so loud my guinea pig was startled and squee'd along with me lol.
