Pony Corral / Re: So, is pony cancer contagious?
« on: April 04, 2018, 04:33:36 PM »
I didn’t mean to upset anybody by using the term.  I honestly thought that’s what it’s called and they best way to easily convey what condition I was trying to describe.  It wasn’t meant to upset anybody and I didn’t even think of it upsetting anyone in that way.  I’ll consider words more carefully in the future.

Pony Corral / So, is pony cancer contagious?
« on: April 04, 2018, 01:55:04 PM »
I've been doing some reading on pony cancer.  I am wondering if it is contagious?  I have a few ponies in my collection that have a cancer spot or two and now I'm worried that my whole herd will become infected
What has everyone's experiences been with pony cancer?  Do you think it is contagious, yes or no?

For Trade / G4 To Trade
« on: March 28, 2018, 07:41:21 PM »
I have some G4 ponies up for trade.  I don't know very much at all about G4 ponies.
I'm looking to trade for G1 or G3 ponies.  I live in Canada :)
I'm a beginner collector so I don't have very many ponies yet, so it's likely I'll be interested in whatever you have.

Please note I got these ponies in bag lots from thrift stores.  I haven't made any attempt at cleaning them up yet.  If you want more detailed photos, just let me know and I'm happy to provide them. If you want me to clean up your ponies before delivery, all you have to do is ask!  (I will be cleaning them up on my own as I have time)

Pony Corral / Re: Oops! Accidentally throwing out pony stuff.

I didn't do this but my mom gave away two Rubbermaid bins full of my childhood ponies that I was keeping in storage in her house.  She said she didn't know I wanted them :(  In her defense, she does feel really bad about it.

Thank you all for your amazing advice!  I think I will try to focus on completing certain sets that I like first.  Thank you, this advice has been very helpful and I look forward to putting it all to use :)

Hey all!   I am wondering if all you seasoned collectors have some advice for a newbie collector?
I am looking for advice as to strategies for collecting!  Right now I have about 20 G1 ponies and some G3 ponies as well.  I am having a hard time trying to decide which ponies I should purchase when they come up.  I have decided to focus on G1 ponies for now as a start.  But I'm not sure if how to focus from there.  I love ALL ponies, so I'm like a squirrel right now and I can't make any decisions because I need/want so many!  Should I focus on common ponies first, or uncommon ponies?  What is your personal strategy for collecting?
Looking forward to hearing your stories and advice!

Pony Brag Arena / My Moms Pony Hunting Finds
« on: March 12, 2018, 10:01:18 PM »
My Mom knows that I collect ponies and she loves thrift stores.  So when my Mom is thrifting, she keeps an eye out for ponies for me.  She doesn't really know exactly what I'm looking for, so sometimes she will get a few grab bags that are full of just fakies and I get excited over them anyways so as not to hurt her feelings
My Mom lives a 12 hour drive away from me, so this is a fun way for us to keep to in touch.  I take all the ponies she finds home with me when I go visit.
Here is my Moms latest thrift store finds, she doesn't know enough to take a picture so I can see the cutie mark.  I'm just happy she puts in this much effort to begin with  :)

Does Ebay allow you to bid by proxy so you don't have to sit on an auction 24 hours a day?

Yes I'm an addict now and I search for ponies all the time now
for G1 I have so far: Masquerade, Bubblefish, Cotton Candy, Bowtie, Glory, Skyflyer, Birthflower June, TAF Sundance, TAF Up Up and Away, Sunspot, Moonstone, BNG Bouquet, SS Magic Star, Princess Pristina, BBE Shady and Baby Half Note.  Most of them were thrift store finds and some a bought off another collector :)
For G3 I have: Chocolate Chipper, Party Cake, Pinky Pie, Scooter Sprite, Cherilee, Bowtie, Triple Treat, Sew & So, Bumbleberry, Toola Roola, Sweet Breeze, Wind Drifter, Beachberry, Valenshy.  I got these from thrifting and buying from another collector :)
Thats good (obsessive?), for only a months worth of collecting.  Plus, I have a group of G1s coming sometime next week...I think it's safe to say I have become obsessed  :lookround:

Hello!
I am happy to be here!  I recently just got into collecting after feeling nostalgic for the ponies I had when I was a kid!  I don't have many right now, but I am sure that will change!  I'm from British Columbia, Canada.  Right now I am focusing on G1 and G3 and I am trying my hardest not to become addicted to the other gens too!  I look forward to learning more about ponies from this forum!
