Big Plush Cleaning question?
« on: October 21, 2012, 08:56:54 PM »
I am working on getting a few more AUS plush ponies. I have someone over there helping me to get them. The thing is one of them is white (Sweetie Belle) and she is really dirty. She is going to be unstuffed and shipped to me. But what I was wondering is will it be ok to wash her in the washer? Like on a hand wash or gental cycle? She is going to need a good cleaning.
Also getting a three foot tall Wysteria and I cant not tell by the pictures but I bet she is dirty also. They were a little girls ponies and she is selling to to get a real horse.

Any info or thoughts would be awsome on this cleaning questions.

Oh ya and I do have one of them laundry bags, but the smaller one might be to big for it. I just do not want the hair to get all gross from the water and drying.

I've washed mine turned inside out on a gentle cycle. I then dry them on low heat and then let them air dry after a little while (you can turn them right side out to air dry). I then lightly brushed out the mane/tail with a regular brush :)

putting that kind of plush in the washing machine is usually fine as far as their hair is concerned.  If you turn it inside out it should protect everything fine.  Just wash it on gentle.  If they were still stuffed you could also hire a carpet cleaner and use the upholstery brush on them.

These ones are not going to be stuffed when I get them. But I do have a stuffed Frilly Focks that I wiped down with a wet wash cloth. She is still a little dirty in places. That is good to know about that carpet cleaner :)  I am on the hunt to get a good collection of them when I can afford it and they come along.

I've unstuffed and put in the washing machine, but I won't dare put it in the dryer after seeing what happened to onderland's giant rainbow dashes hair after doing so. I guess it could work on air dry or something, but I just layed mine out to dry, as they don't take long to just dry naturally. To spot clean I just used shout wipes on small stains.

I'll get some updated pics of it soon, I promise. :) I'm just waiting for a special trade plush to be completed and arrive before I take pictures of everything again, she's suppose to be done really soon.

If you can put them inside of a very very large pillow case or washing bag when they are in the machine thats usually a nice extra caution to prevent them from getting bashed in any way as they tumble. And as others have said air dry them in a natural position :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
