Pony Corral / Re: For Real?! So Soft Sundance and Megan
« on: December 02, 2016, 05:28:51 AM »
Maybe it was a typo and they were trying to list it for $61.80?

I don't think so because the seller reduced the price from almost $650.00 and said this was it and they're not entertaining anymore 'best offers.'  LoL

I may have seen this seller. I saw a Dance & Prance Pony a while ago with a long rant in the description about how they weren't taking offers and this was the price and we could just like it because they're collectable.

But there is another seller with some MOC ponies at around the $580 mark who does not have that rant in the description. They've dropped theirs down from $600 a time. The ponies in question may be worth around $100 at best.

As a MIP collector it both amuses and annoys me. The first because it's ridiculous - just being MOC doesn't mean you get a high price, it depends on the pony, just as with loose ones, even if the scale is different. And it annoys me because it means that MIP ponies appear at stupid prices that nobody can/will pay. And that gives other people ideas to do the same thing, which is probably what has happened here.

There's one MOC pony that's been on ebay so long that I have used it as a reference in conversation to people several times to settle an accessory question ;)

Yes, this sounds like exactly the same seller...if the price of the item wasn't off-putting enough, the description certainly finishes the job.  Even if the price was reasonable, I don't know that I'd want to buy from someone who has that attitude.

I agree, it makes me laugh, but then I get annoyed about it.  There aren't too many reliable or up-to-date price guides out there, so EBay doubles as a resource for value.  I fear that there will be SOMEONE out there who won't know enough about what they're buying to know that that price is ridiculous and they'll get taken for a lot of money.  That kind of thing hurts the legitimacy of the rest of the community.

There's a brand new Ebay listing for MIB So Soft Sundance and Megan, and the seller has it listed as a BIN for $618.00.  Is that realistic?!  I didn't think so, but maybe I'm missing something.  I have a mint SS Sundance and Megan, but they aren't MIB.  What is driving up that price, or is it just the seller's wishful thinking?

If the seller is someone here on the board, I mean no disrespect, I'm just shocked if that's an accurate value assessment....

Pony Corral / Re: Mo Hollywood - MIP questions
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:35:48 AM »
I didn't get Hollywood as a kid and I've never see one MIP, so this is just speculation.  But I don't think so, based on how other MOs were packaged.  Her wings would've probably been in a separate little baggie, but her hair was probably just wrapped around her body within the plastic package.

Pony Corral / Re: Original prices for G1 ponies in store?

I think that a basic, carded pony tended to cost around $5?  :)

I know if you look at the Wishbooks online, you can see prices listed for ponies:

Holy online time waster, batman!  Thank you for posting this!!!!

to me these blind bags aren't cheap to buy!   I know that 3-4 dollars doesn't sound like much, but these things are tiny :pout:

The quality should be better for what people are paying for.

THIS.  This summarizes what I've been meaning to say but couldn't.  When you hear $3-$4, you think 'ok, that's not bad.'  But then you see that $3-$4 is paying for something that you'd expect to find inside a plastic bubble from a vending machine outside the Chinese buffet...and those are $0.50.

Pony Corral / Re: What's your favorite G1 pose?

I simply love unicorns.  With exceptions, I usually zone in on unicorn G1s for my collection.  And the Mimic pose is my favorite.  I seem to be in the minority with that opnion, but it's so majestic!

I feel like this is the reason that the newer MLP will not be around long enough to be collectible.  They're cheap and poorly made for the most part.  Very sad.

Ah...good to know about the accessories, thank you all!  I was lucky enough to find Star Gleamer and Skylark both for sale in the same place and their condition is great.  But neither has their accessories, so I'm trying to figure out what they need from the pictures in the Wiki.

Hey, everyone!  I'm looking for opinions!

I'm looking to add Brush N' Grow Princesses to my collection.  I seem to see Glittering Gem most often, with Brilliant Blooms being the second most common.  Am I correct that Star Gleamer and Skylark seem a bit harder to find?

Price Check Archives / PC on Some G1s
« on: November 17, 2016, 06:32:46 AM »
Hi, everybody!

I've recently purchased a few ponies via Instagram sales, which I'm finding is a FANTASTIC place to get nice ponies at reasonable prices, btw.

Anyway, I've made a few purchases lately and I'm finding that it's SO hard to get reliable G1 information online outside of this board, especially with Dream Valley gone.  So I'd like some opinions on how I did or what the average value of these are.  I'm going to try and get pictures up soon, too.

1.  Baby Stocking - $10 USD - Absolutely mint!  Bright white, great symbols, blush and eyes.  Hair has factory curl, no cuts.  Beautiful!

2.  So Soft Ribbon - $12 USD - Again, absolutely mint!  In fact, the best So Soft I've seen other than MOC.  No rubs ANYWHERE with perfect hair.

3.  Sweetheart Sister Cha Cha (hasn't arrived yet) - $20 USD - Comes with original, perfect earring.  Described and pictured as near mint with factory curl in hair.

Thoughts, please!  Specifically, I thought I read somewhere that Cha Cha is among the more sought after of the SHS, so please confirm or rule out whether you feel this is the case.

Pony Corral / Re: Any pony regrets?
« on: November 14, 2016, 07:08:16 AM »
I still regret not keeping my ponies from my childhood. They may come back, like Flurry did, but how will they be?
As Cannibalism said, I let them fade away because they were to girly stuff and I had already many troubles at school without them... but now I regret not being stronger and try harder to get more ponies.
The first one I got is Twinkler and I remember having her and Starhopper in my hands and I took the pegasus instead of the unicorn.
But I was really happy when I bought her early this year from
australia ^^

You had a childhood pony make its way back to you?  Please share that story!

Pony Corral / MLP Kinder Eggs
« on: September 30, 2016, 05:25:04 AM »
Does anyone know where I can find those Kinder Surprise Eggs that are made of chocolate and have the MLP figures inside?  Walmart, Target, some pharmacy?

Thanks in advance!
