Boiling tinsel

I can’t remember if I read about boiling hair to straighten it here or on a Facebook group, but I have a question.  Can you boil ponies with Tinsel?

When G3s were still in stores and I dyed them for customs, I seem to remember the heat making their tinsel frizzle up.  (Didn't matter for customs since I always replaced their hair.)  Not sure about G1 tinsel!

I’ll keep my eye on this thread because I’m wondering about g1 tinsel myself. Just got a Napper with lovely hair who really needs her insides cleaned, but her head has never been removed. I guess I could wrap up her hair and carefully pour hot water over neck seam before moving to acetone?

Hope this isn’t too derail-y!
