Bleaching Advice? Making G4 Pinkie Pie in to G4 Cotton Candy?

So I have been wanting to do a G1 to G4 Cotton Candy, and I have some extra Kitten Dollyhair that would probably work nicely. I've been thinking of using Pinkie Pie as a base, but she's a little too dark. Could I bleach her to lighten her shade? I know that could make any paint I add to her fade, but since her cutie mark is white, would it matter? How would her eye look if I bleach her?

I know I could just do a FBR, but although I've been getting much better with hiding brushstrokes, I still don't like the look of my FBRs. Is bleaching a reasonable alternative since Pinkie is pretty close?

The only way to bleach a pony is sunfading and it's not reliable and can take eons to actually fade the body significantly. If you want her lighter, your best bet is going to be to paint her.

^ Agree.  G4 plastic does not take well to color changes.

Thanks, guys! I wasn't sure if something like that would work, having no experience with doing that to ponies. I guess I'll try to be brave and do a FBR.

here is a picture of a seven day per side sun fade I tried on a pinkie..
She is not even. Front, back, under belly, inner ears are darker and her outer ears are a touch lighter. After a while the plastic color leaching that is happening with G4 has made the head and body no longer match like they do in the picture, the head is lighter.

I have been tempted to see how long it would take to get to a near white and while I have no plans for her that don't require a full body repaint I'm still a little afraid what might happen with the plastic since G3 get sticky.

Oh, very interesting. Even though it's not even, it doesn't look too bad. Maybe since Pinkies are easy to come by, I'll try sunfading one. I suppose if it doesn't work out, I can just paint her body afterwards.

Wow, that actually looks pretty good!  I guess to get a more even lightening, you'd have to have her in some kind of rotating thingie... and even then I guess I can see why she would still lose color unevenly (like under her legs)

Thank you guys! I didn't fade her or anything. She was the 2nd wave Pinkie Pie, and I think being on the shelf for some time makes her yellow a bit but it gives her that strawberry colour that traditional G1 pink ponies have. I guess whether you liek it or not, the colour is going to run a little somewhere down the road, which works to your favour.

All I did was paint new symbols and recolour the eyes, so I'd say just go ahead and use a Pinkie Pie. It's going to be small difference. lol
