Pony Corral / Re: What were your pony misconceptions?
« on: August 06, 2018, 04:14:00 AM »
Okay, so is that a common problem for Fancy Flower? Because I've been lowkey searching for her for years. I kept on seeing sellers posting her with white hair/pink tail, and...this is going to sound stupid...I honestly thought everyone was just passing the same pony around, buying her then reselling her. For years, just that one Fancy Flower  I guess that's a pony misconception....

Pony Corral / Re: What is the most expensive pony you've ever bought?
« on: August 04, 2018, 09:04:38 AM »
I can't really think of any ponies I've spent a good amount on...I would think the most I've spent is around $25, and that would be for the SDCC Muffin Pony. I was fortunate enough to get a few slighty sought after ponies for cheap - Nightglider for $16, 2xSDCC :muffin: Ponies for retail, a glitter Funko Luna for retail (ordered one, lucky enough for it to be a glitter!). I feel like there should be a few I spent more on, but I guess not...Ponies are sort of my cheaper toy collection.

Oh wait! I remembered, the HQG1C ponies. I think PepperJack is the most I've paid up til now. He was $35? $38? Something like that...

Off Topic / Re: Build a Bear weirds
« on: August 03, 2018, 08:58:11 AM »
They usually assume I want to do it, I suppose. I first went to BaB as a teenager with a gaggle of friends, so it was both extremely embarrassing and kinda-sorta fun. Especially since I was the only one actually buying a bear! We went a few more times over the years, and since then the others bought bears too. And we all did the ceremony, haha.

I've been going a lot with my boyfriend lately, and we usually do it. Last time, he decided my bear (hammerhead shark, actually) was going to be his right before the ceremony, so I made him do the dancing. When the lady told him to jump up and down, I yelled at him to jump "faster!!" and I think we almost broke the bear builder from laughter  Imagine a bald, 39 year old man jumping up and down with a stuffed shark...

So, I do the ceremony because it's fun to goof around with whoever I'm with. But if I were alone, I definitely wouldn't...Actually, I don't think I'd have the guts to walk into BaB alone  I guess I'm weird like that...

Based on that picture and watching all the other episodes, I would say we don't have to worry about it becoming a "brony" episode! They dive pretty deep into each toyline's history, and while they do touch upon how they become phenomenons, it doesn't seem to detract from the informative aspect.

I found Starshine at a store near me today! She was the only one left. Hoping to find a Sunlight when things calm down a little.

Pony Corral / Re: Set completion- do you collect them all?
« on: August 01, 2018, 06:50:24 AM »
I usually don't set out to complete sets, but once I see that I'm close I will make an effort to hunt down the last one or two. So far, I've only got one completed, the first 6 CP plus Lemondrop and Peachy. I happened to find them all in the wild/in person, too :)

Right now, I've got two sets I've almost completed: the first Sweetheart Sisters, and the Rainbow Curl girls. I found all my Rainbow girls in the wild as well, so Raincurl needs to come to me in person! Aurora happens to have both ponies I need (Raincurl and SHS Fancy Flower) so I'll be able to get them from her at the next Minnesota meet :)

Congrats on the self restraint, it takes a lot of discipline! I often have to do the same at my local Goodwill. I ask myself if what I'm buying is something I would have on display (meaning something already on display has to go to storage) or if it's something I'd buy just to put in storage. If it's the latter, I shouldn't buy it...hopefully that means that I don't!

Pony Corral / Re: Are there any fans of Fiesta Flair?

I've never heard of her. But she is really cute! I would've bought her.

Ok, I lost track of what I said I would bring, as far as food. We will be bringing salsa for sure. Erick makes a super hot salsa he calls Dead Man. It'll be hot peppers and veggies, but no raw tomatoes. (I believe it was mentioned somewhere in the chat that someone can't do those?) Won't be ghost pepper hot, but it's not for the weak of tongue.

Hi Aurora, you can put Erick and I down as coming :) Also, we can bring salsa! Erick will make some, and I can probably buy guac since I'm not talented like that, lol.

Pony Corral / Re: Rehairing for personal collection
« on: June 24, 2018, 04:29:33 PM »
I think the idea of a slip of paper inside is a good one, but can be problematic if it gets wet. And a buyer may never know to look...

Maybe something small and hard would be better? I'm picturing like, a dice or something, that has "rehair" painted on it. It'll rattle around when handled, so any new owner will know to look inside, and they'll see it. Small enough to fit through the neck plug, big enough not to get trapped in a leg. The rattling would force people to investigate, but isn't visible or permanent "damage". It wouldn't stop a scammer from scamming, but at least it would keep the well-intentioned but uninformed people aware. Just a thought.

I have no horse in the race since I've never owned any of the options  Voted for Mainsail because I like her colors.

Just want to say I love the idea of a customs or art display. I probably wouldn't join a contest...but I like when we all share things we made!!

By the way, were there any pictures taken at the last meet? I'm curious to see how the rodeo went :)

That's a great idea! Maybe we can scout out other pony/unicorn themed games?
