Pony Fairs! / Re: Minnesota MLP Jubilee - September 4, 2021!
« on: August 16, 2021, 12:06:34 PM »
Hi! I haven't been able to confirm, but I might be able to go. Can I and a +1 be put down for a possible maybe? (My plus one will be driving!)

:) I think you misunderstood the question I asked Pokeyonekenobie. I asked why what benefit there would be to a 3DS hooking up to a switch.  (I was trying to understand if it was about transferring pokemon or not).

Ah sorry then, my bad! I have a general gripe about the Switch as a console and thought your post was an easy entrance for my rant, lol. Apologies :)

I think it was time for Pokemon to go on a new console.

DS came out in '04, 3DS came out in '11. The 3DS could barely handle running sun and moon.

I love the idea of the switch. I liked the idea of the TurboGrafx.. and always wanted a Nintendo version.

I'd much rather have a system that I can play hand held AND on the TV then have to buy 2 systems that didn't connect. It's cheaper...

True Sun and Moon didn’t work well on the 3DS but works well on New 2DS

Right. But an upgrade from 3DS > n3DS is minimal. It's not really a new console, but offers slightly faster processing.

And just to be real, I don't think it's reasonable for people to buy a $150~$200 console to play a game on a dying platform. (Or again have the game be severely compromised)-- then people just to move onto the next system. Which is switch.

Don't get me wrong, I like my 3DS too. It's way more convenient for travel.. and can take a beating. But it's time for a new console.

They figured out how to link the DS with the Wii, so I agree--why can't they link the 3DS/2DS to the Switch?

What would the benefit of that be?

It would be good for people with mutliple players in the household. So if a family has two kids, they can both play at the same time without buying two Switches (at $300 each??).

Moving it all to the Switch makes for a better individual playing experience, but I wonder what it will do to multi-child households. It's not conceivable to buy a Switch for each child when they're so much more expensive than the 3DS. Not to mention, the inevitable price jump from $40 to $60 isn't going to help. My fiance and I like to play Animal Crossing and Pokemon together, but that's all we play. Now we just have the one Switch, so we won't be able to play together at the same time anymore. That was the main reason my fiance liked to play those games, so now I'll be solo and it just kinda bums me out :/

I have a wild theory though (and this is just a baseless aspiration, so please don't take me seriously!!) : Nintendo will come out with a console that is a slimmer, more stripped version of the Switch at a much lower price point sometime near - before or after - the release of Pokemon. Because the multi-player household thing is just too big of a glaring issue with the primary demographic - kids and their families. I just can't imagine Nintendo is looking the other way. They have to have a plan to approach that.

looks like they did mold swaps for the winged ponies and a new-ish pose for earth/unicorn?

Wow, I think this is the first time in a LONG time I want another mane six pony. That Rarity looks great! They finally started printing her and Twilight's eyes in a way that doesn't look weird, too.

Pony Corral / Re: Emotional responses to certain ponies?
« on: February 10, 2019, 02:02:43 PM »
Yes, i agree with that. For me the G1 ponies evoke the sense of happy christmas past, of total make believe and oh so happy times. I never had ponies as a child but i always would have liked them. I think maybe, too, the pony itself gives off that feeling of childhood joy, i know this may sound silly, but it is almost as though the child who played with that pony leaves the feeling behind within the pony forever, for others to tap into. Thats what i like to think anyway. :)

I do sort of believe that objects can pick up energies from the people and environments they're around. Maybe something that was very loved will have a residual comforting aura, or something that was in a room with people arguing often will have an inexplicable aura of hostility. I have a friend that's extremely sensitive to energies. We went to a used bookstore, but she had to turn around and leave...Turns out that it was quite a sensory overload from everything that the books were giving off. Especially since people can feel such strong emotions when they read the stories, I suppose it was imprinted on all those books. It really shook her up!

Sorry for going on a tangent! But all that to say that I also believe a child can leave behind traces of that joy they felt when playing with their toys. In some weird way, it's almost like the ponies remember :)

I didn't grow up with ponies either, I started collecting right in the beginning of my college years. But my very special pony was SHS Flowerburst. I had never seen a Sweetheart Sister before, so when I saw her I thought she was the most gorgeous thing! I got her my first Thanksgiving away from home, right when I found out my grandpa was dying and I wouldn't make it back in time to see him. So she really helped me through that time. We went through a lot together :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Unpopular Toy Opinions
« on: January 31, 2019, 05:00:23 PM »
I am not a big fan of teddy bears. I love stuffed animals, but bears are so...boring! They'd have to be very particularly cute or unique for me to want it.

Also, this is probably not an unpopular opinion, but I don't really like electronic features in toys. Like, voice boxes, movement, etc. I just like simple toys without tech...I've also got to agree on almost all of the above, too! Not a fan of the blob fad, was not into dolls until Monster High. I was always more interested in animal toys than people.

I am really fond of Marabella - she's just very pretty! I love her sweet face :) Mine is the chestnut with the chestnut mane and tail.

You can count me and my boyfriend, Erick as a very strong maybe. He says he wil not drive down there if the weather conditions are bad, but we both have the 12th off, so if the roads aren't bad, we will be there.

Non pony prizes sound rather exciting! There are probably interests that enough people share for it to be fairly competitive - dolls, Pokemon, cute stickers, Disney, Japanese plush, cats, etc. I wouldn't really have any pony prizes because my collection is very unimpressive compared to most of your guys', I wouldn't have anything worthwhile to donate. But I can think of several Pokemon things I own that would be great...

Knowing Erick and I, we would probably jump on the Mexican restaurant group order. Getting food delivered/having everyone be responsible for their own food does make things simpler and easier to manage, so I think it's a good idea. The tree decoration event sounds rather hilarious, too!

Maybe HQG1C can do the sitting fakie baby instead? Those are much easier to come by, and only have one neck joint.

I did get it off Big Mac, but it changed the surface of his plastic. It looks more matte, a little powdery-looking now...I just used acetone, q-tips and a lot of elbow grease, but it looks like I sanded the surface with a fine sandpaper :/ Maybe others have better luck with it, though?

Maybe I would save my SDCC Muffin pony, that belonged to a dear friend that passed. The pony has a wonky haircut and everything from her :)

Agreeing with the others that say they would prioritize other collections, though! I would probably save a stuffed painted dog I have. She's my night guardian and has slept with me every night. How would I sleep without her around? :P

I'm another one that's going to mostly have G4 answers!

Earth Pony-Applejack (G4, 2011 single)
Unicorn-Twilight Sparkle (Molded hair gift pack from 2010)
Pegasus-Fluttershy (G4, 2011 single)
Flutter Pony- Forget-Me-Not (I forgot her name, tbh)
Winger-High Flyer
Unipeg-Celestia (same gift pack as Twilight)

Looks like I still need a sea pony and a merpony.

I just want to also say Alphabittle, for unique theme! I love her symbol, such a weird and fun pony.

I was tempted for awhile by some of those Spirit horses, but the ones with molded hair. I caved and bought a flocked Junipero from Toys R Us, when everything was like, 70% off. I love his dynamic pose, but the obvious seam down the middle is a turnoff...

Autumn Skye is one of my favorite G3s! I think another fairly obvious one is Applejack.
