its not that hard to work with! I'd suggest putting some kind of armature underneath of some sort! Just make sure to wear gloves and sand it down after 24 hrs

I like your optimism! Can I ask what an armature is? Google wasn't very elightening!

Thanks

Customs / UPDATE AND REVEAL: ! Help! I bought a three legged pony!
« on: June 23, 2021, 03:56:53 AM »
Woops! I bought a three legged pony.

If I had read past the words 'played with' condition, I might have seen 'amputation' further down in the description.

This is my first time trying to post an image, but in case it doesn't work...here's the description... I accidentally bought the sister of the Apple Delight loving family with only three legs.

I'm not opposed to trying my hand at epoxie sculpt, but i've never done anything like this before.

In the experienced opinion of customisers / restorers, is this even worth trying or is a missing leg just too much work?

I've been thinking of ways I could take a mold of the existing leg of a baby in the same pose and use it to make a new leg.

Any advice welcome, even if it's to cut my losses and bin her :-(

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 6/22/2021 Sky Rocket

I love these ponies so much. Probably my favourite set. I have rocket arriving any day now in a lot. I'm only missing Twinkler now and two of the glittery babies, but agree with others that twinkler is probably the prettiest!

Here's the listing for the salty hat https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284228756391?hash=item422d5aa3a7:g:DPwAAOSw2m1gU8gV The seller has had other types of hats up as well, so i'm sure you could contact them via ebay.

That's a good idea about trying to make my own. I may well try that. I've got a queue of pony's for smaller restoration jobs though, so I think that may be a longer term vision!

Haha, woops!

Actually I found someone making repro Salty and Steamer hats, but WigWam's head dress I guess is a whole other kettle of fish!

Hi all,

I've just picked up Wig Wag (in a pretty bad state), and I want to start restoring him. I've found some sellers on ebay that make some of the hats, but do you all know of anyone who does the head dress for wigwam, or maybe even the set of hats?

Thanks for you help.

Emily

This is actually a rather nice idea, to have a mandatory introduction before lurking! I suppose it breaks the ice.

Hi, I am Emily, and I am a secret pony addict.

The majority of my (all G1) ponies were bought in my childhood, and even then I was obsessed with picking them up at jumble sales. I continued to buy the odd one here and there all through my teen year, into a serious legal career. Literally, no one would suspect how I spend my spare time and money! I became a mum (yes, I'm British!) a couple of years ago and my daughter spotted part of the collection stashed away. Now I have an excuse to get them back out, and i'm here looking for tips and tricks on restoration and cleaning, as well as drooling over pictures of other peoples collections.

Thanks so much for having me!

Emily
