Would you name your kid after a pony?

Me and my girlfriend are having a baby due in July, and we're currently having a heated discussion about names. I actually like the name Rarity, not to be used as a first name, but as a middle name if it's a girl, however my girlfriend hates it! What do you think?

PS. I didn't know where my thread should go, so I've put it in Pony Corral just because iit's kind of got something to do with MLP!

Sorry, but I wouldn't give my kids pony names (at least obvious ones that always will be remind people of ponies). But I'm this way not only about pony names but all those strange names people lately give to their kids.

Both! She hates FiM and she also thinks that if we name the kid if it's a she Rarity she would get bullied at school. I have told my other half that as it's a middle name no one would know but she's not having any of it!

No, I wouldn't name my child after a cartoon character.  I don't even name my pets after cartoon characters.

As a middle name, maybe, if it wasn't something extreme. However, I don't like the idea very much. If she really dislikes the idea, maybe you guys should come to an agreement on a different name.

Thought I'd include a conversation with my sister:

me:  you would be all 'hello, little nephew Princess Sparkle'
and he would be all 'I want to be emancipated'
sister:  indeed
 me:  "you know big words for a four year old!"
sister:  people have been teaching him that since they heard his name

I wouldn't name a child after a tv character, but that is just me. Not even just because it is a MLP character, for examlpe, the amount of people naming their children Kharleesi makes me inwards cringe, despite loving game of thrones.

Rarity is probably obscure enough that only pony people would really get it (and other children if the show was still going). It's a pretty name too, though, as with all media names, you'd have to bear in mind that the child might be teased for it.
