Re-posing G4 Advice?

I want to try and repose a G4 into the G1 Posey pose, ideally to make a G4 Posey. I've got some Original Sculpy and was wondering if anyone has had success boiling it instead of baking it? I read somewhere in passing that this was possible but I had doubts about the clay properly sticking to the pony plastic when boiled.

And since I don't make a habit of re-hairing I was planning on using Fluttershy for the hair colour and taking her wings off, I assume I'll have to sculpt over her back to tidy it up. So if boiling doesn't work I'll remove head and tail to bake, G4s don't have a higher risk of melting do they? lol

If anyone has pics of majorly reposed G4s (and WIP pics) and advice on how to go about it properly please do share!

I have boiled sculpey onto a custom before. It sticks very well, but still stays slightly soft. Nothing that would affect the end result, just feels a bit like a dry eraser.

I haven't had any luck boiling. It just didn't get hot enough to cure all the way through. I got a shell of baked on the outside but the inside was still soft. Over time it cracked and crumbled. I don't boil anymore but perhaps it's just my stove.

Thanks for the answers, I might just bake like usual. Are G4s safe to bake like normal? I've heard that they are more prone to melting?

I have never baked with their hair in but the G4 bodies do just fine baking, I've baked the bodies and heads multiple times and they did just fine.

I've baked them hair and all without trouble.  Excessive baking will dry out hair but one go through shouldn't hurt it.

I boil all my sculpey because I don't own an oven. Works for me fine so far.

I usually bake at a lower temp (~225 F) for longer and haven't had a problem with them melting myself (with multiple firings anyway, if I only have to once I bake at regular temps and times). If anything they actually don't get as soft as G3s in the oven for me. Boiling does work though, I also know of a Sculpey sculptor who steams her sculpts and says it works well but I'm not sure if she does it super regularly or just when the pieces are really thin.
