I finally finished her and got those pesky cables to stay in like I had hoped. So here is Twelve of Thirteen, Secondary Controller of Trimatrix 6648, my Original Star Trek Character. She's a borg who was liberated from the collective and has joined Starfleet as a science officer. She is the last surivor of her race, The Kalarians of the Delta Quadrant. I made this race up myself :3
She was painted with acrylics, sealed with liquitex clear matte. Her various claywork was done with a combination of sculpy, apoxie putty and apoxie sculpt. Her hair is Midnight Magik from Dolly Hair and the cables are speaker wire held with superglue and pins.
Without further Adieu here she is!

That would be pretty sweet. More mechanical thingies!! Maybe stuff an LED in her some where so she'll have a glowing eyeball!
-
lol yeah that'd be awesome :3 I've got a few other projects in the works first but we'll see what happens >.>
-
is awesome!! i really like her horns
-
Thanks! They were so much fun to make too :3

Gorgeous work! I LOVE the details!

She looks totally wicked and very creative.
I'm just curious... Is she a pony-fied version of your made up race or do they look pony like naturally?
-
She's a ponyfied version of my character :3
I don't have art work of this form, but I do have some of her full borg look, which isn't a whole lot different.

This is the character as a borg still in the collective. When a borg is separated from the collective their natural body starts to take over again and she regains her skin pigmentation and grows hair, along with her body rejecting some of the implants, so she has fewer implants after being separated from the borg.

lol yeah the artist that did it for me is great :3 she's taking a small hiatus to get her life back in order and then she's totally letting me commission her for Twelve's other form :3

Very cool job there. You mentioned you used speaker wire for the cables on your model? I was wondering if you've looked at guitar wire as an alternate material for your tubing and such. I've used it in some of my custom models before and it looks awesome. Has that coiled tubing look that goes really well with Sci-Fi style models. Awesome job on your pony figure there :)
-
I haven't looked at using that. I was trying to get clear plastic tubing, but couldn't get it small enough, I really wanted blue. I happened to have like 300 feet of speaker wire, so I used that XD

*chuckles and nods* ah...gotcha :) Another trick to get small tubes is actually to use monofiliment line (fishing line)
-
lol I looked at fishing line too! the thing was that I couldn't get it thick enough, I was either finding too thin or too thick XD

*laughs* heh..hate it when that happens...

I know, it drives me nuts, I spent like a month looking for the right stuff, and still ended up having to settle on speaker wire, I was hoping to find blue tubing, but no luck, fortunately the speaker cable looks good

*grins* ah..the search for the perfect part needed to complete a custom....I know that search well :)
-
lol yeah I know, I'm currently searching for the perfect parts for three more XD

A M A Z I N G, this is just epic, I love everything! Wow! :inlove:

She turned out really great! I was wondering, what is working with Apoxie putty like compared to apoxie sculpt?
-
Apoxie putty sucks @_@, it dries much harder, is harder to sand, and always has these little bumpy crystals in it, not to mention you only have like 2 to 3 minutes of work time before it gets too hard to work with @_@
I used it for attaching the ears and horns, which are made out of sculpy. I do all my sculpy separate from the body when I bake it, which was never the best idea since it shrinks, so I'm so glad I can use my apoxie sculpt now
-
OMG! Your pony turned out AMAZING! Great sculpting!
