10 Customs in 30 Days - Challenge has begun!

Tomorrow's the 10 in 30 kick-off!  I am asking that those parties that are planning on attending reply to this thread, asap, so that we can get a solid list of those that are going to be working on this project.  And, if I am allowed to do so, I'm going to ask that those that are not interested in participating in this challenge to hold off on replying to this thread until active participants hold their spot on the front page (see below).

I would then like each participant, as they finish their customs, to update their first page thread with a pic and brief description (if necessary) of their custom.  Of course, the customs all deserve their own separate posts, but I think it would be neat to "collect" all of this month's art in one thread that we can all look back on, come November 30th   By updating the first post you make in this thread will keep the pictures of the customs at the beginning, reducing the need for people to go clicking through pages of replies to find new customs.

Check in days will happen every three days (So, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27 and 30), but if you finish before a check in day or extra ponies in between them, they can be posted at any time.  I'm super stoked about this project, and hope you guys are still, too!  I've got my first three challenges looking at me right now!

Here is a group shot of all my unfinished planned ponies. Some of them have been sitting around for a while, and they are all in various stages of completion from freshly prepped (Flutter) to just needing the hair style finished (white Unicorn).

Im sure I'll add a couple more through the month to get up tothe goal of ten, but if I can just finish these I will be super happy.

Oof. This image is missing a pony that I am going to start work on, but do not expect to finish. It isnt due till May anyway. But I may update progress on it anyway. It is going to be Unicrorn.


11/3 Finished the easiest one first! She just needed her hairstyle finished (cut, glued and pinned) and her symbol sealed.

I have a mostly painted G4 who is going to be BBC Sherlock for myself

3 lolipop customs for Skelletonimp (the G2's and DG Fakie)

restoration of that pore baby Dancing Butterflys- shes already got new eyes (for anyone who doesn't remember the story on her she came in a lot of mangled customs/bait who had/mold/paint flaking off ect. no way to save them) some one had tried to turn her into masquerade but one of her eyes had popped out. I started removing the paint and discovered someone had baited a baby DB!

I have a winger in need of hair and new wings.

3 G4's that need to be turned into Doctor Who characters for my set- I'm over half way to my goal of every Doctor- 1 or 2 companions for every Doctor and 5 villains!

No pic from me until Sunday at the earliest, though - my brother borrowed my camera for railraod photography. (That boy really needs to get his own camera...) He promised me he'd have it back to me this weekend, but I won't see him until work tomorrow, and I close then go to a DnD session (which essentially means I'll be out all night).

I shall edit the photo in for this post as soon as I am able to take one!

Edit: Here's the photo for some of my WIPs. I didn't want to crowd everything in there, so I only kept myself to a few. This was taken via cell phone, since I still don't have my camera back. Not too bad a picture, though.

The green pony lying down is the one I mentioned a while back that I used the wrong head. There's a pretty big gap there, and I'm not sure I'll be able to fix it.

Two done tonight! (I had been working on them for the past week) I got more banners done for levels of progress, except the final one, I want to make that special and I'll do that in a couple of weeks

I managed to get the first coat on a styling pony today!

Then I got distracted by making dinner (which was a stew that I burned because I forgot to turn the heat down after putting the cover on it; we ate it anyway, but didn't save the leftovers for lunched tomorrow as we normally do ), making an apple pie (which I didn't burn! Yay!) and I was mostly distracted by the book that I reserved at the library becomming available at the library much sooner than anticipated (which is Mercedes Lackey's Redoubt for those wondering).

I should be able to get some more done after I wake up later this morning.

Edit: I wound up stripping the paint off a G4 styling pony earlier today. I tried the paint I bought for it without watering it down first, and decided I didn't like how it was going on after all - when I was working on the 3rd layer. Le sigh. At least the other styling custom is going well. And the other paint got watered down a lot, so is now behaving nicely, I think. Unfortunately, this means my work area now smells of acetone, and lightly of watermelon-scented hand soap. 

OKay, looks like I won'tget my camera back until Wednesday. I had to call in sick Saturday, and was off yesterday and today, my brother is off tomorrow, so we see each other Wednesday instead. I think I'll try cell phone pics; never tried uploading fromm the cell thougho this will be interesting.

You are welcome to do whatever you want with them copying the image might be easiest I think. I promise not to delete or change them during this. I took a pic and I was amazed at how many of these have their base-coats of paint done already  . I need to make sure I have hair for them all. Also there is one pony I need to do that I forgot so I will swap him out for one of the less-important ones. The pic is B&W because some of these are for other people (not for Arena swaps though) so I don't want them to see them

This gal is for my grandma who wants a pony. She doesn't care what it is as long as I made it....she is getting an airbrushed pony using lace as a stencil with pearls and well...real classy sort of look to her.

This girl is for my best friend, Susie, who loves wicked to death, especially Elphaba's dress. So I need to try and make a custom that mimics that dress...shoot me now.

Thus far today, I have added paint layers to the two styling G4s that already have paint on them, and done the cutie mark and most of the eyes on the G4 formerly known as Lyra. Also, I chose hair colors for her. Rather pleased with how her cutie turned out, even if I did decide to only have it on one side like the toys, instead of both. Hee!
