Many people have great results with Apoxie. There is also another alternative called Amazing Sculpt some people use. Fimo Air, and Fimo Ultra Air are also alternatives. I'm not the biggest sculptor, but I have tried them also and had good results. My sculpting needs practice, but the clays are nice.

Sorry I went MIA from the convo, but many other artists gave some great info, and I'll just echo what they said. It really is preference, some people prefer brushes, some pens, and each has pros and cons.

Trader & Shipping Support / Errrmm. Odd situation feels fishy.
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:59:59 PM »
I was contacted by someone wishing to buy something from me. The use of wording and grammar tipped me off that something was fishy to me. I was poking around asking questions and it occured to me that the reply I wa given was over inclusive, and the paypal address seemed familiar. After doing some digging I found it to be someone to have issues before. So, here is my question, should I reveal all the details here so others can know of who it is, or privately pm a mod and leave it at that?

I would not recommend ink from the pots, it is thin and never seems to dry. It doesn't stick as well, either. I use Artist Pitt pens, they come in a variety of different colors and tips from brush to extra super fine. For details and outlintes, especially eyes, they were my go to for years now. If you use them on the pony directly, it takes longer to dry, doing it on top of some painting helps it stick. It is important to remember when using it that it smears easy until it sets for some time, so just be careful. Good luck!

Customs / :Night Gathers: A Game of Thrones Pony: For sale
« on: March 24, 2012, 04:38:35 PM »
: Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come. :
This girl features a raven flying atop "The Wall" of ice. She is inspired by HBO's series Game of Thrones which is based on R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books. The Night's Watch is a brotherhood of men sworn to protect the realm from the danger's outside. She features another hand blended dollyhair blend that I spent extra time blending, because I wanted the colors to closely resemble the ice and raven feathers.
She is fully painted in acrylics and Lumiere. NO INDIA INK was used and she was FREEHAND painted. I know this seems simple because everyone does this, but if you're familiar with my work you know I use India Ink for all my lines in every custom I do, and I outline with it as well as draw my symbols, so this is quite an accomplishment for me!
Anyway, she is for sale for $30 and includes shipping ANYWHERE.

"And May The Odds Be Ever in Your Favor" The pony on fire.
This amazing colored girl is in honor of "The Hunger Games".
She is rehaired in a custom blend of Dollyhair in 3 shades, to looks like flames. I blended the colors by hand and took special care in this particular blend. Her symbol is my take on the Mockingjay pin, done in acrylics and 2 shades of Lumiere.
She is for sale for $35, and shipping ANYWERE is INCLUDED.

Off Topic / Re: The Hunger Games

I LOVED the movie. I have been waiting for a year for it, and was very happy with it. Granted, I made it a point to NOT read the books even though I have them (and the audio books) because I didn't want the translation from book to movie to turn me off. I opted to wait for the movie first. I am so glad I did. As someone who has not (yet!) read the books I think that in my opinion they still showed enough to allow viewers to feel how bloody and desperate the Games really are. It was very heartfelt and I found myself secretly rooting for the tributes, even though I knew there was no way they were all going to win. (I tried my best not to give ANYTHING away in my post for those tha haven't seen it yet, No spoilers!!)

I would be in for a sticker swap. I ran one here 2 years ago, and it was amazing. Everyone got awesome packages, and it was so much fun. I'm not sure how your idea works though. Would we be sending you our stickers, then you send to others or would we get our own partners? I'm sorry I didn't get that too clear in your post. Might just be me because of my scatter brain, lol!

Nalyia is a private trade with Kala who has been patiently waiting on her. She wanted a pony similar to Nevarya I did before, and this is what I came up with. She was painted, sealed, rehaired in a custom dollyhair blend and I hope Kala likes her!
