The curse of pindot - how can I help my ponies???
« on: June 02, 2023, 09:41:37 AM »
I just got a bundle of ponies from eBay and all of them have pindot, some are covered in it

Is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

EBay is such a gamble! I saw some of the ponies were a bit baity but TE Locket was in there and I really wanted her! She has a dotty tummy :(

Unless someone has a secret they are keeping to themselves, I'm afraid the only real way to get rid of it is good old fashioned scrubbing. You want to use hot water, as hot as you can stand it. Maybe even boil the pony first. Then use the back of a butter knife and scrape it fairly hard against the offending area. Pindot is dirt and makes ponies have blackheads, basically. It gets into the pores of the plastic quite easily. If you take a bit of mud and rub it on a G1, you'll give it pindot.

Anyway, hot water and a firm hand are what's needed. Some people have claimed an Oxi bath can help get rid of some of it. I stopped using Oxi on ponies, so I don't know if it's true.

Thank you - I will give them a good scrubbing. I don’t think we can get Oxi here in the UK unless I’m wrong. I know people used to think pindot was mould so I’m glad to hear it’s just dirt.

Very hot water and a good scrub should fix them up as BC said (I use a touch of bleach in the hot water or a drop on the body of the pony) :) The hot water will open and soften the plastic so the dirt should come out.

You can get Oxi here (Amazon or the super market have it), I use it in my washing. Just be careful with Oxi-clean as it can damage princes symbols and tinsel in the hair.

Thank you - I’ll give them a nice hot bath! I’ll have a look for Oxi-clean as well :)
