Pony Corral / Re: couple quick questions about pony hair and heat
« on: December 06, 2018, 06:48:02 PM »
update... i used the iron on a few ponies but something strange happened that i've never had happen before - the tips of their hair became very coarse and hard after a couple passthroughs, so bad that i had to snip it off! thank goodness it was only the tips
what could have caused this? was it too hot? not enough conditioner? why only the tips?

most of the ones i want to defrizz are g3 and g4 ponies, so i should be good there, but i have a couple g2 happy meal ponies with crazy frizzy hair too. is their hair made of the same stuff?

so 310 degrees is a safe temperature once the hair is wet and conditioned?

Pony Corral / couple quick questions about pony hair and heat
« on: December 03, 2018, 08:12:43 PM »
sorry if these have obvious answers but it's better to be safe than sorry

first, when defrizzing a pony's hair with a flat iron, what is the maximum recommended temperature to heat the iron to without it damaging the hair?
second, would wetting and then blow drying a pony's hair on low heat help set the hair better for curls/whatever hairstyle i give it?

i really appreciate any answers on the subjects, thank you

she actually still has the ring! it's just not attached to her body any more - i actually thought it was supposed to be a hair accesory at first.
would it be a good idea to try and glue it back together? where exactly does it go?

Pony Corral / some questions about restoration
« on: April 21, 2018, 09:23:31 PM »
hey, i recently got back into pony collecting and found quite a few of them in an antique mall, and i was wondering what i could do to help restore them? (sorry if this is in the wrong forum, it's been a long time since i last visited this site)

cheerilee here has a lot of scribbles on her forehead; what would be the best way to eliminate or at least lessen the pen marks?

these little fakies and mcdonald's toys are crazy frizzy - what would be the best way to help fix that? i've used the flat iron method in the past for frizzy hair, but i'm not sure if the hair on these is made of different stuff, and i'd hate to accidentally melt them because of it

last but not least, light heart seems to have what might be glue sticking out of her tail? not sure if just plucking it out would be the best idea or what? additionally her hair is pretty messy; what would be the safest way to clean her off without threatening to get water stuck inside?

any help with these would be super appreciated!

I would love to see G3 Sweetberry (my first pony) and Toola-Roola! Either version of her!

I've been working on my first custom pony and she's all done save for rehairing - but I have no idea how! I've looked through the internet and seen countless tutorials and I don't know which one I'm supposed to choose! Could someone please help?

Hm...It'll be a challenge to make her look nice again, then! Is there anything I could do to make her look better?

Hmm...is this fakie's hair made of different stuff that real ponies? I tried to defrizz it using the same methods I had done with my real ponies and the hair melted off  :( Is it the hair, or did I accidentaly set the hair iron too hot?
Also, is there a good way to clean her body? She looks awfully dingy even though I've scrubbed her with antibacterial soap.
