Watched the leaked Game of Thrones (I never normally do, but there were spoilers so in-your-face that I couldn't even go on the youtube homepage without the entire plot instantly spoiled).  Have to wait 10 days instead of 7.  Longest 10 days of my life.

Trader & Shipping Support / Damaged MOC.... what should I do?
« on: August 22, 2017, 11:51:26 PM »
Hey guys :)  A few weeks ago i received a gorgeous MOC big brother.  The seller was on ebay and stated clearly that the bubble was partially unsealed at the base of the card.  I knew about this and was fine with it.

Because of the GSP wanting me to pay like $50 postage I enlisted the help of an awesome Arena member to post the pony on to me.  She messaged me to let me know that she'd noticed the bubble was partially lifted (I'd told her to have a peek and see what I'd bought) which was the same condition as the seller had sent it to me in.  So I know that the seller had done the right thing and had posted it in the same condition it was listed in.

When I received it the bubble had come off completely and the comb was sitting loose in the bottom of the bag.  I suspect Australia Post was rough with the parcel- it was on my front porch and had been pushed through the bars of wrought-iron door wall that encloses the porch, so it probably hit the floor and that was enough to pull the bubble all the way off the card.  it was packaged well so I don't think it's in any way the seller's fault it arrived de-carded.

Any ideas what I should do?  I paid $160 for it (there was a sale and I had an ebay code so I got a good deal), but as it's no longer MOC it's obviously no longer worth anything near that amount.  I do love the pony, and don't really want to send it back, but it would seem unfair to the seller to ask for a partial refund as it wasn't their fault.  Is there anything I can do through paypal or ebay??

Very neat article Loa.

What's a cup of Milo btw?

Milo is a popular chocolate-malt milk drink.

Sounds good. Kinda like Ovaltine?

Yup.  The correct serving is like, a bit of milk, half a tin of milo.  It's an Aussie/NZ staple :)

Depends on the pony. Blue doesn't automatically mean most of them will look awful.

I've got a great looking Baby Drummer and Sweet Pop.

I don't know if you can notice pvc breakdown underneath flocking, but other then not so great flocking, my Ribbon is in nice shape as far as I can tell plastic wise.

My daughter has a good looking Baby Shaggy, Bright Eyes, Barnacle, Moonstone, Wind Whistler and Seawinkle.

^ That's true, should have been more specific!  I guess every pony has their own special colour mix to that exact shade.  I find blue and purple are often more prone to fading to a dull or greyish colour-- like BnG Ringlet, or Dainty Dahlia.  Baby Lucky is hard to find without age spots and in vibrant blue, unfaded shade.  Sugar Apple fades easily, Barnacle, Sweet Stuff, Alt BF Poppy, Twisty Tail and Baby Blue Ribbon can be hard to find in mint body condition.

Maybe I just have a thing for blue?  :frolic:  But you're right, there are a lot of blue ponies who don't fit that pattern, who are nearly always great colour.  (Bow Tie, Night Glider, Nightlight, Princess Royal Blue) I guess it's all about the chemical composition of the colours Hasbro created :)

I think maybe climate aggravates the issues mentioned. I've had some ponies come in with the above mentioned issues but in my cool dry cupboard they don't tend to get any worse.

This is my Q. I think he may have come from the US originally. I have no idea whether that is his proper colour or not but it is an even colour all over, so I'm good with it. I think he looks ok.

That's really interesting.  I mean, there has to be some logical, scientific reason why you can have two of the same pony with vastly different conditions (I mean, other than play wear).  Why does hair frizz on one pony but not another, or on have age spots and another doesn't, if they were made in the same factory at the same time?  Is it the environment?  Or is it a different batch of plastic/nylon??

I would like to hope that seeing as it's been 30 years, ponies that have not begun to break down will be 'safe', at least as a general rule, perhaps an indicator of a different batch of plastic to ponies who developed age spots and regrind etc.

Pony Corral / Re: Euro Baby Buttons - what is wrong with her?

Aw, pity!  At least it's her NDS, luckily.  She looks like a beautiful pony otherwise :)

My Quarterback is pretty good (pretty decent colour blue, not many discolourations, slight plasticiser leak), but I dream of finding him mint-- you know, that perfect deep blue in your dreams?  (Admit it, Big Brother ponies are pretty dreamy :drunk:)

I'm almost tempted to buy him MOC just to find a mint one!

I know blue ponies are notoriously hard to find in great condition.  Do you have a perfect blue pony?  Are you searching for one?  Share any pic of your perfect pony (or one who may have been blue, once...

Wow, so sorry to hear of everyone's bad experiences!  Glad you got your money back, Ollivander.  I've bought from her a few times and never had any trouble, guess I've been lucky.  Always sad when a pony person gets into dodgy dealing :(

40
Oh!  They are so cute.  I'd have to keep both.  I'm terrible.

I always hated the spoiled-brat girls like Mae in the Golden Horseshoes and the scullery maid's daughter in the Prince and the Ponies who want to steal ponies and make them pets or just generally eff things up with unreasonable selfishness.  Mae at least came around when you appealed to her better nature but the daughter was just bad through and through!  Nothing worse than being trapped and the plaything of a bully or abuser.  *shudder*

But I think Garth takes the cake  :tort:

Ima just leave this here.  The struggle is real.

Pony Corral / Re: Poll: Who's your favorite male G1 pony?
« on: June 17, 2017, 09:19:01 PM »
I picked Quarterback and 4-Speed.  I love their colours soo much, and they are so stunning mint!  Hard though-- I love WigWam and Barnacle too :)

Taffeta-- We should totally have a poll for favourite UK boy!  And just rename this one to US boys.  Personally I think the mountain boys would win by a landslide, they are too cool

The cat has moved onto my bed and always sleeps in the MIDDLE of the bed.  Like, c'mon dude, I'm human sized, you're cat sized... take a corner!  And I feel bad pushing her out of the way when I want to roll over or spread out a bit.  I mean, she's so cute all curled up...
