I'm finally playing The Walking Dead, I've been wanting to since it came out! It's as great as I anticipated.

You guys might appreciate my story! I got to meet the woman who was the reference model for Tinkerbell for the Disney movie Peter Pan. Her name's Margaret Kerry. She also did modelling for the red-haired Mermaid, as well as the voice acting! She was the one who said "We were only trying to drown her".

She was asked to come speak at my middle school, because the principal was a huge Disney fanatic. She talked all about what it was like, and it really sparked a love for animation and art. She had to speak twice because our only indoor area big enough for an assembly doesn't fit the whole school and they didn't want to make an elderly woman stand out in the cold for such a long period of time. So as soon as my assembly (the first one) was let out, the second half of the students went in and we got a recess period. I immediately started drawing Tinkerbell. From memory, so I remember it being awful and inaccurate, but I remember being proud of it at the time. After some back and forth arguing with myself, I decided to give it to her. So when the second assembly let out and she came outside to leave, I ran up to her and timidly handed over the drawing. I'm sure she's gotten hundreds of drawings from cartoon loving kids, and it couldn't have been more than another cute moment for her, but I have always been very shy and private about my art, so giving a drawing of a character to the celebrity behind the character was a huge thing for me. So I've always had a soft spot for Tinkerbell and always will, because of that lovely woman who captivated me enough to give me both inspiration to draw and the courage to share it. I'd always been artistic as a kid but hadn't been much at that time due to lack of confidence and motivation.

The funny thing is, I tend to hate most Tinkerbell merchandise (mainly the shirts for adults that have "sassy" quotes like "I get my way!" or "Miss Attitude") and I was REALLY hesitant to watch the Tinkerbell movies because I thought it was going to be playing on that one-dimensional view of Tink. I'm so glad her character has been given the opportunity to display a fully fleshed-out personality and be something more than the favorite tee shirt of every all-grown-up spoiled brat.  :P

I would love to help coordinate a pounds for ponies, or some kind of weekly challenge where we report in our fitness goals.  I'd even love to provide prizes for staying on track!  I'm going on vacation for a week (starting tomorrow) but I'm going to ponder on this... I'd love to support my pony pals!

I came back in here to say that we should start a new pounds for ponies challenge thread!

Off Topic / Re: I need advice on catching stray rabbits!

They were probably easter gifts that turned out to be too much work :( so sad and it happens every year. If they're not coming up to you, they're probably okay, it means they're not so domesticated that they're overly trusting (and so will still run from threats). But if you want, you can always leave out some veggies and other bunny-safe treats that will attract them and see if they will let you grab them? Or put the treats in a humane trap of some sort if you're sure you want to catch them.

If you don't plan on keeping them, find a bunny rescue near you, or at least a general no-kill shelter that's willing to take them. They may also be able to catch them for you so you don't have to buy a trap! If you do want to keep them, be sure to read up on the care. There's a reason so many get dumped every year after easter. They're not as easy to care for as they seem and they can be fussy too!

I've been struggling with weight loss since a bout of rapid weight gain I went through about 4 years ago. I take full responsibility for not being able to make it so far, but that's not to say I couldn't possibly lay some blame on my abusive ex, hah. Now that I'm away from him and with someone better, things are starting to fall into place a little better.

My weight's been yo-yoing between 150 and 130 for these long years, with a high of 159. Being a shortie (5'1) with small bone structure and little muscle, hopefully you can understand how it looked a lot worse than it sounds. Obese BMI for my height starts at around the 150-155 lb zone....  Right now I'm sitting at about 147. My diet has vastly improved the last couple weeks, but we've had some birthdays and rough work days that led to more alcohol consumption than is good for any diet... haha. So not much progress lately, but yeah. I've also been exercising more and in a way that I am more able to stick to and get results from, AND I've upped my water intake significantly. So despite the scale not budging much, my body is already looking a little less bloated and lumpy than it was a month ago  :P

So far, I've already had some small victories to brag about: I don't get winded and flushed just going upstairs in our house. I'm not sleeping 12 hours a night and still not being able to avoid crashing hard and napping for an hour in the afternoon, in fact the whole "tired all day every day no matter what I do" thing has been getting better and better every day. I'm finding it easier to say no to junk food, and to limit myself when I do indulge. It's always good to remember that weight loss isn't just about the numbers, you also need to recognize and calebrate all the non-scale victories, too! It's so hard to stay positive during the plateaus and tough times if you don't pay attention to the ways your health and quality of life are improving, too.

Pony Corral / Re: So why do /you/ collect ponies?
« on: May 30, 2015, 11:43:53 AM »
I started out just watching FiM and didn't really think I'd become a collector. Then I started posting here...  :P Saw all the pretty vintage ponies and they grew on me a lot. Then I joined a swap and it was allllll downhill from there. Ponies make me smile, and the community is the best one online I've ever been a part of. I always feel better when I come back to this site :3

Pony Corral / Re: TAF babies -- what was Hasbro thinking?
« on: May 25, 2015, 09:56:49 PM »
I think they figured people wouldn't want to buy them if they were nothing more than smaller versions of the exact same pony. Especially parents. "Honey, you already have this same one at home." "But Mommmmm, this one's SMALLER!"

Pony Corral / Re: what do you consider bait?
« on: May 25, 2015, 08:25:08 PM »
I usually consider a pony bait if its problems are too noticeable on display to overlook. Like, I don't care if it's missing an ear, as long as I can hide it with its hair without it looking silly! Spots and marks are okay as long as they don't jump out at you, haha.

Pony Corral / Re: who is your fave pony??
« on: May 25, 2015, 07:51:47 PM »
Out of the ponies I own: Pillow Talk, Napper, and G3 Tiramisu and Mochanut. I clearly have a "cozy" theme going, haha.

Fave ponies I don't own?? Uh... too many to list :p I can never have just one favorite anything.

Here's an album with the pictures for reference, sorry it's out of order. I'm sure some of these ponies aren't going to be worth much, a couple are a bit baity, but... humor me! All the SHS ponies have their earrings intact. All the ponies look a little bit dirty and frizzy from storage, but if it's not mentioned below it's nothing a good bath won't fix.

Baby Cotton Candy- Smudged blush on one side (picture shows a dot that turned out to be dirt, came off  :P )
Sparkle Baby Firefly- eye looks like a factory defect, otherwise gorgeous
FF Cotton Candy- dirty with a few spots/marks in the plastic, mainly a faint blue "bruise" on forehead (tried to get a photo but my camera sucks, spot is about as big as her pupil)
SHS Flower Burst- head is slightly discolored, NDS some shiny scratch looking marks on neck? otherwise gorgeous
SHS Dainty- NDS has one black mark (could be something cleanable, haven't tried anything other than water) and one faint mark in "armpit", otherwise gorgeous
SHS Wildflower- NDS faint shiny scratches like Flowerburst, no other flaws I can spot!
Princess Tiffany- NDS jewel is more beat up than the DS(NDS is the second one pictured), NDS blush has smudged off in one spot, tinsel is a little crinkly but not bad
Honeysuckle with repro wings- neck seam looks a little discolored (could just need a deeper clean?) purple marks on cheek NDS is hidden by hair when displayed
Peppermint Crunch- Overall a bit yellowed, NDS(?) side symbol is faded
Bridal Beauty- Somewhat crinkled tinsel, yellowish spot on DS, two small marks on top of back. Otherwise gorgeous, mark on symbol was dirt that came off too lol
Light blue comb (might belong to Sparkle Baby Firefly...? It's so hard to tell apart the blue combs  )

Off Topic / Re: Weird Job Interview Questions
« on: May 22, 2015, 06:56:29 PM »
No weird questions, but a weird interview in general. I recently got hired on at a theater and the guy who interviewed me had all... four questions he asked written in pencil on a piece of lined paper, like school notes. It felt very much more casual than I was expecting! I guess I'm used to these retail/part time jobs all acting like they're so much more professional and fancy than they are. The lack of BS is confusing haha. But hey I got the job! And it seems like a nice place to work. (And yay money, maybe I'll even be able to pick up collecting again! It's been years!)
