hee hee - I adore her character  ^.^  She truly makes the show with her terrific and often deliciously caustic one liners.

I stopped watching the link part way through though - I still haven't seen the second half of the third season and don't want to spoil anything for myself   XD

Thanks for posting!  :)

Love Downton Abbey, love Maggie Smith! Her delivery is always spot on, she's such a gem. I'm always looking forward to her cutting remarks. :)

I'm with you. I like that they took some risks with Season 3 and felt it was well-done overall, but I agree about the Christmas special.

Spoiler
I remember being so excited to set aside a night to curl up and watch it after the holidays were all said and done for me. I had loved the one that came the year before, it was just so heartwarming. I had been looking forward to it all month, but the ending just left me feeling pretty cold, especially after loosing Sybil. I went to bed after thinking, "What was that?"

I know Dan Stevens didn't want to continue on with his role as Matthew, so there wasn't much of a choice concerning his departure, but I feel that he will be sorely missed. While he wasn't my favorite character, I liked his interactions with the rest of the cast, so I hope the storyline can recover in a satisfactory way. I was also a big fan of the relationship between he and Mary and I'm conflicted about how I feel about season 4. I'm a bit heartbroken with the sudden turn, but a part of me is also looking forward to seeing where they go from here.

Maggie Smith!! :bows down:
The show is great, but without her, it just wouldn't be the same :) best character by far :)

Which reminds me, I should check out 3. season, I didn't know it was out! Oh, and, when is it chronologically best ot watch the Christmas special, after season 2 or 3?

There's two Christmas specials, one for Season 2 and one for Season 3. :) Chronologically, they each take place after their respective seasons and serve as season finales, since they impact the main plot and move the story forward.

I almost made the mistake of watching the season 2 Christmas special before watching season 2, since I was watching that season all in one go and there hadn't been a special the year before. I'm glad I double-checked a few minutes in and stopped before getting really into the plot, I would have ruined the whole storyline for myself.   >_<

I am so tempted, but me and my mum both love it and discuss it afterwards :) and as she held off watching season 2 while she was in the UK for the same reason, she'd kill me if I cheated now

Me too. I thought Season 3 turned out some amazing performances, but it was kinda depressing. I am super mad at certain actors which I won't discuss and spoil for those who haven't seen season 3.

I saw season one and fell in love! Now I am trying to figure out how to see season two, netflix doesn't have it and the only way is if I pay for another service like netflix I think.

You might try your library system (if they let you get things brought in from other places). I think there are a few Blockbuster video stores hanging on.
I think I watched all of season 1 &2 online (which I HATE doing) and 3 on DVD.
