I have accumulated quite a few duplicates over the last year from ebay in hopes to sale on and fund other purchases. I've also gotten some upgrades which means I now have a bunch of restoreable ponies as well as excellent condition ponies I need to get rid of due to space. I was thinking of grouping them into lots of 20 or so and selling them that way since some people love to restore ponies for their own collection and get a deal on the others. My question is how much should I offer the lots for? I was thinking if they didn't sell here or the trading post, I'd list them on ebay starting at $40 with free shipping. I have to factor in the shipping cost and how much I put in buying which is why I came up with that price. Ebay is a last resort as I hate to have pay big fees and with all the deadbeats and problem with that last buyer, I hate to do that but am tired of these ponies sitting around. I just don't have the time to list them individually like I thought I would :( What do you think?

Hmm. That's tricky, I am having the same trouble with G3s at the moment...

I know some other members here have been selling off lots lately. Seems to work. :)
As far as selling them on eBay, I would honestly recommend setting the shipping price and starting the lot at a lower price. That generally draws more interest. :)

What generation of ponies do you find yourself with? I could see having trouble with G3 and G4 lots unless there are rare ponies in the lots.
I don't pay much attention to G3 and up lots on eBay. G1 and G2's sold in lots usually make up 99% of my "watched" auctions on eBay, if the shipping isn't ridiculous.
I'd probably group them in smaller lots if they are G3 and such. Maybe five or six ponies with a fair set shipping price and a low starting bid. G1's, depending on if considered "bait" or not, would be in larger lots.

if you didnt wnat to get your moeny back and you jsut wnated to get rid of them you can awlays do Free just pay shipping lots on here.. i guarentee you then i'm sure people would buy them.
but i think it al depends onw ho all is in a lot.

I'm selling g1..lots of 30.. and the shipping is $8.95. It's that much because that's how much it costs to ship that size/weight box.

So something I've seen that works like magic is actually a yard sale. Price them as low as you can to not lose money on them, and kids love em! And those pesky collectors, of course.
I would try here and the TP first, maybe just big group pictures and people can buy the ones they like, and whatever doesn't sell is a yard sale pony!

If you don't have time to price individually, bundle them in small lots or sell them for X ponies for Y dollars, minimum order (# of ponies). G1's pretty much always sell even in baity condition unless they're undesirable poses like BBE's.

I feel ya. I don't have that many ponies to clear out (about 35) I'm even taking offers. No bites...

Perhaps it depends why you thinking of selling them in lots as well as the generations you are selling. If G3 then I would group in small lots for sale for certain as unless you have something unusual or some of the harder to find releases, you could sit with some for ages waiting on a sale. But if you have G1s in reasonably nice condition then unless you are in a rush, I would sell them individually. There are very few G1s that you wont be able to sell with a low enough price and there is certainly enough interest in people adding to their collection that I am sure people will be greatful if you allow them to purchase individual ponies.
However, if you are rushed and dont wish the hassle of selling individually you could offer "packages" - i.e. 5 or 10 ponies for X amount and people pick 5 or 10 ponies from the bunch. That way people still have a bit of choice and you can still sell them in batches.

Lately I've only been selling ponies individually if I can get $4+ for them. Otherwise I don't think, for me, that it is worth it. All the PMs, price quotes, trips to the PO, etc., to sell $1-2 ponies is too much. So yes, if you mainly want them gone and don't want to spend hours and hours getting rid of them, I'd sell the commons and baits in lots. I recently sold 19 ponies for $50 + shipping--a good deal for me and the buyer.
BTW, if you have a baity Peachy w/ an excellent tail, let me know! I need a really nice Peachy tail! :)

yes, I think you need to factor in if you really just want them gone, or if you want to make up for the time and money used to get them. The latter is going to take a lot of time as well. I had a clean out for my ponies recently (not as many as you though) and I ended pricing them pretty low, just because I wanted to clear out the space and have them sold. But all you can do is try - I would find a price that you are comfortable with and try to sell for that. If no one bites, you can always lower your price again or put them on ebay.
