I found a Takara pony and I cant get it! Re: I got it!

So basically what the title says.  I am living in Japan and working as an alt (Assistant language teacher).  I am right by Tokyo.  There is this place called Broadway in Nakano where I hunt for ponies.    I have not been there for awhile so thought I would go today not expecting to find anything of course.

So after an hour of looking guess what I find behind a display case?   A takara pony!    In the package with all her accessories, the white one with the pink hair.  With a 2000 yen ($20) price tag.  So of course I started freaking out.  Basically jumping and screaming in the store.    I rush to tell the guy I want to buy it when he says its not for sale!  I tearfully ask him not for sale at all and he replies yes.

I feel like sobbing now.

If it's not on sale why on earth does it have a price tag? That sucks for you, I'm so sorry.

Well, go ask him again soon; he might change his mind.  Or ask him why it's not for sale; maybe it's already sold, or maybe he wanted to keep it for display.

Heck, make an offer for it!  I'm sure it's worth more to you and other English-speaking collectors than it is to him.  So offer more than he would think it was worth; that will still be a lot less than it's worth here in the States.

Everything's negotiable (well, usually).  So go negotiate!  The first answer isn't necessarily the final answer.

I am guessing it had a price tag because someone brought it for the store and then put it on display to get people to come in.

I am not giving up on it though!    I had a friend with me who can speak a little Japanese.  Better than mine anyway and he was translating for me.  I did want to try negotiating but the guy seemed very firm that it was not for sale.  He told us the reason why but neither one of us could understand.

I want to see if I can get someone who can speak Japanese to come with me and try again.

Keep working on him, he should let you have it for the right amount. I do love Nakano though found some great stuff in there. As you are in Japan check out http://2000collectabletoys.com/ they only sell vintage USA toys but have a large amout of MLP. Its on the outskirts of Tokyo. I have a feeling its only a couple stops from Nakano but cant remember.

Okay my plan is to go back Tuesday.  My friend said she could come to translate.   So keeping my fingers crossed.

O_o; Oh my, I must be a dummy. I don't know a White one with pink.... Are you sure it's not Yellow and Pink? At least take a picture when you go back.
I think if you get her, be prepared to pay a higher price tag-- not $20 They aren't that clueless about them NOR their price.

oh it is probably the yellow and pink one.  She had a dress with the red p on it. I was just in shock to notice much of the details I think.   I will def take a picture I just did not have my camera with me.

Is the store called something like Nakanoten? Is it this one? http://www.mandarake.co.jp/information/buy/nkn/toy/

Seems like someone at the store is interested in buying them, rather than selling, so maybe that's why it's for display only (assuming it's the same one, but it seems likely. As we know there aren't many of these around)

Edit: Oh, yeah. You even said it was in Nakano! X)
