Title: cleaning up a damaged custom, advice please
Post by: PoserBeachball on February 09, 2018, 06:12:48 AM
Would like some advice from those of you experienced in customising and the materials and techniques used:

I have a little custom pony who I found in a bad way.
She was extremely sticky and the paint was clumpy and smudged, chipping off in places. I've cleaned her up as best I can and the paint flaked off. However it has left a stain all through the body vinyl.

Any idea what paint was used for this to happen?
I presume as she is stained right through (can see the marks on the inside of her body) then she either needs a re-paint or a little outfit? I can easily make her a little rug.

Is it 'safe' for her to be around other ponies?

I think she started out as a Baby Lofty, she'd been re-haired, and painted in red, black and some sort of gold paint on her wings, flanks and back legs. No customiser marks on her hooves.

ANY  paint could have made that stain really, so its hard to tell. Chances are if its tacky or sticky it MAY be enamel but honestly there's no way to tell just by describing it I don't think.

As far as being around other ponies, I wouldn't chance it if she's flaking and already stained herself...

If you decide to clean her up you could use some acetone to strip her, but that's all I can think to "help". I'd actually like to see a pic of her since if I'm being honest, she sounds weird and interesting...

I'd love to see a pic, too! Might help us give you more tips on what can be done as well. Very hard to go by just a description. But yes, she sounds interesting to me as well! ;)

A pic would help me as well, but as far as being safe around other ponies, it sounds like you don't want her touching other ponies. Paint may stain on to others with physical contact if the paint is in poor condition. I don't know that other ponies being nearby should cause a problem at all.
