How well do they fit inside the hole? Is it snug or loose?

The plastic on the Blind Bag ponies is fairly soft, and the hole is only slightly smaller than the 5mm magnet. I'd call it a "snug but not tight fit." I don't think the magnet will fall out (or the pony fall off the wall leaving the magnet), but I think some careful squeezing of the hoof could probably get it back out.

Also, these spherical magnets are just what I had on-hand. If I were purchasing specifically for this, I'd probably get 1/8-inch diameter x 1/8-inch tall cylindrical neodymium magnets (sold by the same places for about the same price), since they would offer more sticking power.

As it stands now, some poses of Blind Bag ponies flip around a bit if you try to face them in some directions, since they are only attached by one hoof. A stronger magnet may help there (or, find a metal ceiling to hang them from instead).

I was originally going to install these in a set of 2011 McDonald's ponies (as I have with Pinkie Pie there), but I need to get more magnets back from my sister now. The 2011 McDonald's ponies have hexagonal holes in 2 hooves; the holes are significantly smaller and the plastic is stiffer, so getting these magnets installed is much harder. I'm considering melting the plastic with a soldering iron and installing the magnets while the plastic is molten.

Lol that is such an awesome idea! I've just got mine all stuck to the top of my iMac with Blu Tack... Sticking them on the fridge would be fun but I doubt my parents would appreciate it lol

That's a fun idea! When I showed my first blind bag pony to my mom, she kept asking if it was a magnet. I guess now it can be!

I've been trying to come up with what type of magnet I could put there so that these guys would stick to my desk at work! After seeing yours the other night at the meet I had to order a whole bunch online!
