Magnetic fun

Just got my first Blind Bag ponies, and I noticed a small hole in one hoof on each.

1. Get 3/16inch (or 5mm would probably work) neodymium sphere magnets (I think they are like $0.17 each online, and super fun to play with. Mine are from neocube.com):

2. Notice hole on hoof of Blind Bag ponies.

3. Stick a magnet on a metal surface and press a pony onto the magnet fully (wasn't difficult with my US Wave 1 Blind Bag ponies; was more difficult with my 2011 McDonald's Pinkie Pie's smaller hexagonal hoof holes) - putting the magnet on a surface first ensures the magnet will end up oriented with a pole outward for maximum sticking power.

4. Result: Pinkie Pie's Wall Party:

EDIT2: Note these are 3/16inch magnet spheres, not 1/4-inch or 1/8-inch as I had said (I actually got out a ruler this time).

Got out a ruler and measured 10 of my magnet spheres. They are 4.69mm diameter by my measurement (and the manufacturer says they are 3/16inch).

A coworker has some of the name-brand Buckyballs desk toy magnet spheres and they measure exactly 5mm, and do look noticeably larger than mine.

The hole in the hoof of the Blind Bag ponies looks to be 1/8th-inch (3.175mm).

5mm magnets fit OK (the hoof does end up slightly wider than normal, but not bad looking to me), 3mm or 1/8th-inch magnets would probably fall out unless you glued them in. 4mm magnets would probably work OK too.

I don't know where you could buy this kind of magnets locally. They are about $0.17 each for a pack of 216 online.
