Pony Corral / Re: Hydrogen Peroxide Soaks versus Sun Fading
« on: July 21, 2016, 06:58:56 AM »
I wonder if coating the hair in petroleum jelly would protect it during peroxide soaking?  Or some other substance?

Of course then the question is would the petroleum react in any way with the peroxide?

I really appreciate this thread, as I love to clean items but have often pondered the implications of "restoration" and long term changes they might cause.  I don't have any clear answers, of course, but I do worry we might look back one day with regret on various fixes that seemed harmless at the time.  I think these discussions are great and I use them to help guide my cleaning practices.

Oh, I'm late to the party but I too have fallen in love with AG.  My personal collection is small (Caroline, Addy, and a lovely WB Sam) but I built a dollhouse for DD8 and she has a small collection of her own.  I enjoy fixing up the dolls just like I do fixing up ponies  visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Has anyone on this thread mentioned the Costco gift cards yet? If you live near one you can sometimes get AG giftcards at a 20% discount, and then if you use them during sales it's even better.  If the Wellie Wishers are included in any sales that plus the giftcards could help make them more affordable.

Thank you both!  I didn't try to change the auction since it already had bids, and fortunately it was won by a U.S. bidder.

I had no idea the GSP re packed people's items.  I will definitely be opting out in the future

Trader & Shipping Support / eBay global shipping question
« on: November 01, 2015, 08:34:38 PM »
Hi all,

I have a question about an auction of my own and Ebay's global shipping program.

I have been contacted by a bidder in Australia (I live in the U.S.) who is asking if I will change the shipping from priority to standard to save money.  However I didn't set the shipping- Ebay's global ship program did.  Can this be changed or is it something EBay decides?
Also, are there any potential downsides if it changes from USPS priority to standard? The auction is not a pony and is likely to go highish (40.00?).  Would standard still have tracking and insurance?

 Thanks!

Pony Corral / BaB hair advice?
« on: June 26, 2015, 10:47:59 PM »
I took my daughter to Build a Bear this week to buy the princess ponies, and although I didn't say anything to her, I was so disappointed!  Both Celestia and Luna seem to have such thin hair.  Also I even asked for a different Celestia, as the first one had a clump of hair that came out from the tail base...are they all like this?

I was also upset when we got out her Rainbow Dash. She's barely played with her, and her hair was tangled and the ends dry. She's maybe a year old?

So my questions are- how are you taking care of your BaB's hair? And, have any of you tried any dry hair treatments? I'm wondering about conditioner or steaming.

Sorry if there is already a thread about this, just point me to the right place! My daughter really likes the plushes and wants to collect them all now.

This is very cool- will blacklight reveal regrind on any color of pony?

I have never seen her in that nice a condition...good thing I've talked myself out of the TE ponies (so far!).

Hi all.  I'm hoping someone here will have an idea of what's going on with a non-pony Ebay purchase

On Dec 6th I won a 18" doll kitchen table for a good price.  A few days later it was marked shipped with tracking.  Then, I saw that it was 'delivered'.  Of course it wasn't delivered, it was still in Florida, where it was shipped from. And, there is now a second tracking number that shows it 'in transit'.

I contacted the seller yesterday and s/he said that they had printed the wrong label but then printed the right one the same day.

My biggest concern is that the second tracking number still only shows the package in Florida, and while it technically say 'in transit' the package hasn't progressed all week.  I live in Oklahoma, and this package isn't getting any closer.

Also, I'm not sure how you can mess up a paypal label- it prints the address and everything right there.  And if you printed a new one the same day, why did the only tracking number show up to me (the buyer) at all.

So I have two tracking numbers, one shows delivered, and my package isn't moving.  Anyone have any idea what is going on?  I've never run in to this before.  Also, can I call the post office and ask about it, since I have the tracking number?

You shouldn't be stuck with that return shipping   I once had a seller send the wrong pony, and he didn't want to pay for the return shipping- a whole 2.00 US (I was so irked!).

I contacted Ebay and told them the situation, and I got free return shipping under their guarantee.  Maybe you can still contact them and request that, since the item wasn't as described?

MiRaja,  those girls are truly lovely!  The face molds are delicate and pretty.

Have any other AG fans been watching/participating in the sales?  I'm new to AG and long time collectors are all excited/worried because apparently they don't usually run this many/deep/type of discounts on items, especially historical ones.  I'd be interested to hear the opinions of those here!
