i hope you guys dont mind me posting so much lately!!
i am nearly finished with markings on my newest custom, but the spray sealant i used on my last custom (Nettle | g4 custom (https://mlparena.com/index.php?topic=404919.0) ) turned out too glossy. the spray i used for that was Aleene's acrylic sealer (https://www.amazon.com/Aleenes-Spray-Finish-Acrylic-Sealer/dp/B003W0BZHC/ref=asc_df_B003W0BZHC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167129414796&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3793739605523799217&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009860&hvtargid=pla-311298511563&psc=1). what sealer do you guys use? should i get mod podge?

I wouldn't recommend mod podge bc it's super water soluble, if the pony ever got wet it'd all melt off.
I use duraclear matte varnish and it's, like, fine. Sometimes it dries pretty freakin glossy, other times its a nice satin. But it's pretty permanent and waterproof. So that's good! I also use a couple Rust-Oleum top coats in gloss and Dead Flat and they've worked ok so far! I'd love to hear other people's answers for this though, always looking for new recommendations

Never use Mod Podge. You know, you don't have to seal it. It's going to be sitting on a shelf not being handled much. I stopped sealing my ponies because everything eventually turns out sticky. Maybe it's my climate, but even Testor's Dullcote went sticky on me. You can try a polyurethane varnish like Vallejo, I have used that with some success.

I’ve used Testors Dullcote or Glosscote for years (depending on the finish I wanted) and never had an issue. My oldest customs are 10 years old and still fine but I live in northern Ontario so it’s not super humid here.
Our Michaels closed down though so it’s become really hard for me to get the Testors and I’ve started using Mister Super Clear to seal which is what a lot of doll customizers use for their faceups. I decided to try it because I can get it easily through Amazon. So far I really love it! Goes on super smooth, dries fast and leaves a beautiful surface.

i think ill order some msc, my first custom is slightly sticky cause its so hot here still :hot:

Mod Podge goes sticky over time and it absorbs reds and it ends up looking smeared. I would second Mister Super Clear--I've found it at Hobby Lobby in the model aisle with the enamel paints.

cowboyopossum I use this Acrylic Varnish sold through Amazon
It worked well on my Harley Quinn Custom because she was Acrylic but didn't work well with florecent paints the Brazilian Shady she became very sticky so I don't know what type of paint you use... but this is for Acrylics only.
