First spoiler is pics of the pony room in my previous house. Mismatched shelves, constant rearranging while I started collecting.the rainbow lights and stars over the ponies in the second pic looks amazing! How?Spoiler
This spoiler is my current ponyroom. (The room is physically unfinished- I tacked up white sheets over the studs&insulation as there's no drywall, and bought cheap rugs to cover the plywood floor. Someday when we finish our basement I'll put a pony room down there)
I much prefer the uniform shelving. White book cases on one side, acrylic racks on the opposite wall. More playset space would be nice, but it's a small room.

There's a pic of the vintage section of mine. I highly suggest getting matching shelves if you can for your pony room. I find it makes everything look more organized and cleaner.

So some background, my collection has been on pause for a few years now. Got my career and now I am a homeowner. As I look to the future, I've decided, to transform my tiny basement into a Pony Room. Always wanted one and it would me give me a reason to unpack the collection. I am willing to sink a grand or so into the project but I'll end of with a finished basement, storage, and a sweet pony hoard location.
So peeps, I'd like to see your pony rooms so I can start getting ideas for my own. Before and after pics would be great too. What were some of the challenges you faced in creating a Pony space? What are some tips that you think would save me some time or would make the end product looking nice? Anything to avoid? What are the must haves of a space like this?

I am here to show you one of the beautiful curses that comes with a pony room! Time to rearrange!
I have one wall of matching shelves and a husband who needs motivating to make more. Until then, I am always on the hunt for awesome display options. Sometime soon there will be a picture of the new shelf--- this is the pile of treasures that had to move out of the way!
One thing i will never do without again- somewhere comfy to sit! The loveseat is nice, and easy to cover with something pink.
May 12! That is the tenative date for the May Meet! You could pet her!
I got her from the last Wisconsin Meet i went to, my nephew James had to share the back seat with her! He made a bet with me that if I made most of the cost for her, he would pay the last $20. Everyone at the meet bought something just to help out! It was amazing!
Here's my half pony room with closet on the one very fine day that everything was neatly organized and there wasn't baby gear everywhere *sigh* KIDS GETTING IN THE WAY OF MY TOYS! :lol:I could stare at your room/collection all day... are those IKEA Billy shelves on the left? What are the measurements of your risers? They look like the perfect dimensions for display. My husband is going to make me some. Oh, and are those those clear plastic egg trays you have your seaponies in?!

Great collection! And that quilt, fabulous!
Achab, I love your collection! That facebook page is really fun, too- expect a friend request when I get off work!
Sunset, please tell us the story of the quilt. I am a huge quilting fan (maybe not a good quilter, but a fan!) and I would love to see more pictures!
ETA: Someone else came in and posted about this, but I crave more details!

I don't know that I'm a good quilter either. I'm entirely self taught and I only quilt when I have a particular project in mind so my stuff is definitely not professional quality. Also the pony quilt is the most ambitious project to date and was definitely a learning experience. I bought a set of vintage bed sheets probably 10 years ago with the idea of turning it into a quilt. By the time I got around to it years later, I couldn't bring myself to cut them up. So I found directions online on how you can print your own images on cloth. I was able to do it but only later found out that the kind of ink printer I have is not the permanent kind. So I can never wash it without washing out the printed portions. But good news is it stays in the pony room where the cats are not generally allowed and the bed only gets used once in a blue moon. I do have the vintage sheets on the bed :)
I did use a combo of g3 and g4 prints on it even though it is primarily g1 themed. The border also has appliques of ponies from all 4 gens.

At this point, I decided that the border really needed some more of that dark purple.

Wow! There are some amazing rooms here. Out of curiosity what is everyone using for risers in those bookcases/shelves? I have been talking to my husband for awhile now about making a collection room (he's almost on board, as long as he gets some space for his Transformers) and would love to know what types of risers everyone is using. Are they custom built, dish racks, spice racks, etc?

Oh my goodness! Your pony quilt is GORGEOUS! I've never seen anything like it before! May I ask where you got it from?

Oh. My. Goodness. I am completely and hopelessly blown away by your INCREDIBLE pony room, Nessa16! It is absolutely beautiful! How long have you been collecting? You have so many amazing pieces, which ones are your favourites?

That's actually Aadra's pony room. I am jealous too! lol At least I believe it is. I cannot actually see the photos on the thread at the moment.

Oh that quilt is amazing!! Great job on this! This is pretty much how I display! I love that thin glass cabinet you have though. Where is it from? I have a very adventurous cat who knocked my ponies off the other day so I need to protect them!
Also does my room count as ponyroom? Because, to be honest, I only can display in there...
So I've got a little cabinet next to my bed...

The rest of my ponies are boxed under the bed. Well, at least, all is around the bed
