Regrind on yellow and purple ponies?
« on: May 08, 2012, 01:57:20 AM »
I know pink ponies can get regrind but I know some other coloured ponies do to... so
What coloured ponies get regrind?
What does it look like (I am assuming if its a yellow pony the regrind will be lighter or dark yellow spots?)
Also does anyone have pics of regrind in a pony thats isnt pink as I would love to know what it actually looked like
Thanks

I've seen it on orange ponies, it usually appears as bright pink spots.

(Barbie dolls can get regrind on their legs too - I've seen it on one right away, and another many years later.  On Barbies, it appears as lighter than the surrounding plastic color.  My sister had a Prom Queen Skipper with this problem, whom she dubbed "leprosy Skipper".)

regrind can happen on just about any pony, really. I had a nightglider with regrind and the regrind showed up as very pale blue/white.

I have 2 Starry Wings that have regrind, they are yellow ponies:(  I also have a Rosedust flutter who has some bright pink regrind on her back leg.  So absolutely yellow ponies are susceptible to regrind.
Great question!!

Any pony can get "regrind" unfortunately...

Its a plastic breakdown - pretty much anything made of regrind plastic can have this...its seen with a lot of cheaper bathroom products as well [shower basins for example] where you get pink or yellow discolouration - that's regrind.

I've got a Wigwam with hideous regrind.  It's oddly mottled pink and purplish orange.

Technically regrind could be any color, because it's the mixed in extra plastic changing to its original color. So if it was pink to begin with, it'll turn pink, orange or purple depending on how the dye in the plastic reacts to the breakdown process. I think certain ponies are more likely to have regrind of a particular color because that color of regrinded plastic was more likely to be added to their batch of plastic. For example, orange and pink were often added to the plastic mix of yellow ponies because at the time it easily blended back into yellow. It's only with time that it has become evident that it separates back into its original color, or close to it.
