Title: Is this Pindot???
Post by: Ariana on April 07, 2018, 05:47:46 AM
So my lovely friend got me a HUUUGE lot of G1s at a Goodwill Outlet store and most of them cleaned up quite well normally.

But then there's this poor Flutter Lily..

I took this pic before scrubbing her up, I scrubbed her with soap and a toothbrush and a magic eraser but still some of the dots on her legs won't come off. Is this pindot mold going on? And what's the best remedy for it? The boiling water trick and picking it out with your nails I've seen the most often but I've never done it myself.

Any help would be appreciated! Look at her sweet little face

Well, at first sight, it seems like a serious case of pindot indeed. =/ Have you tried magic eraser on it beforehand ? (Or acetone, or nail polish remover (careful with symbols and eyes))
And then, if it doesn't work...yup, hot water, soap, scratchy-scratchy, elbow grease and patience.

God luck.

The big dots aren't but the teeny tiny ones in the pores of the plastic are. Not looking up close it tends to just look shadowy rather than obvious dots. Based on how dirty she is outside, I'd suggest opening her up to clean inside as well. I've never seen an externally grubby pony that was pristine inside.

With that orange ish color it almost looks like rust. I'd say it isn't pindot. Pindot it a lot tinier, in the pores. These spots have varying sizes, and they are much bigger. If she has tail rust, and the rust has reached her legs, I'd say rust staining? Maybe. Or it could be a stain from something external. It does look like a stain.

A safe bet would be to try to remove it like pindot first! even though it doesn't really look like its pindot. After that, if it doesn't work, and it probably won't, you could try sunfading it. I think that would work well.
