Argh, that horn would drive me insane. I hate tiny little things like that. Well, I have some g4 pics I would like to share.

Mislabled 3 pack of mini figures. The front is wrong but the back is correct.

Well Glitzy Gems, looks like our Pinkies have the same issue (sorry if it's hard to see). She has a single hair plug outside of her tail.

I have no idea why this is sideways, Imageshack doesn't like to cooperate sometimes

It's not really factory issues, but I remeber hearing that the people behind the toys don't watch the show. Celestia looks an awful lot like Cadence on the box. Maybe they don't full know the differences between them or something? I don't know. It's just food for thought.

I would absolutely ask for a refund. And I would note it over in Trader Support. As for what is wrong with her...I'm not sure. It sounds like she got super heated but I don't see how that's possible during shipping. What kind of shape was the box in?
It wasn't even a box. It was one of those envelopes, which I really hate because they aren't very good if the object isn't flat.

As much as I love her, I might have to send her back. She's got this odd stickiness which I'm going to blame on tar buildup. And I really find it unfair I paid the price of one that was in better shape.

Edit: No returns, never mind on that. But awaiting a reply about my refund.

I really can't catch a break with these ebay sellers.

I bought a TAF YumYum from this one guy on ebay. She had a little tail rust but it looked like a simple fix. Not only did it take forever for her to be shipped, but the condition she got here is dreadful.

Her back DS leg was bent out of place when I got her and her body is very soft. The inside of her smells kind of smokey and she was pretty grimey on the outside. I cna push down on her back an it gives a lot more than it should. I've got some paper towels between her legs so they go back to their normal positions and I'm getting ready to pull off her head.

1. What is wrong with her?
2. Is there anything I can do?

My first pony was a McDonalds Ivy. I wanted a real one, but I was too little (I think I might've been like 2...) so my parents got me that one and I carried her everywhere with me for a long time. I should get a real Ivy so my collection one of these days.

Wow, so many replies

I thought of something else about the box art when I was taking a look at it. Does it really even need to be good-looking? Or decent enough from far away that it can be identified as My Little Pony. When I'm scanning down the isles one of the things I look for is the g4 packaging/colors.

I do like the g1 art and the unique drawings, but even then some of those have problems. I've seen backcards that look like the poor pony's necks are broken just because it's been drawn oddly.

This is a toy line aimed at children and I know they'll cut costs where they can and you can see that across all generations, it's just now it's more noticeable than ever.

Today I made  trip down to Target as someone gifted me a gift card and I wanted to buy some ponies. I made my way over to the pony section with my older sister and we were both pretty shocked at the low quality of the toys that Hasbro's been pushing out. I mean, I understand that they can't always afford to make them to a certain standard and with more and more being produced there's a higher likelihood of factory errors, nut now it's getting a bit silly.

Some of the ponies had some pretty bad paint issues, such as the last Fashion Style Pinkie Pie in the store (who I ended up buying because I wanted her pretty badly) with black dots on her face and smudges on/near her eye. A few of the 3 mini figure packs were in the wrong packaging, being mislabeled as different sets in addition to their really bad paint jobs; Also see this thread, which discusses such:
http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,318275.0.html

Packaging keeps reusing the same vectors over an over with little to no variation in the pictures them use, some of obvious poor/lazy quality and being slapped onto everything.

I've been picking up brushables for a while (despite their puny size and disappointing amount of hair but that is for a different day) and noticed that the dents left by the packaging are getting worse and worse with each one I pick up. The holes in their tails are no longer perfectly circular, but are irregularly shaped puncture for the tail to go through.

What are your thoughts on this, everyone?
  • How do you think this will effect g4 when it is retired?

Perhaps collectors will seek out ones with fewer factor flaws
  • Do you think this trend will ever stop or only get worse?

Children probably don't mind it or even notice, and Hasbro is probably making more money this way
  • Is this even a big deal?

Or am I just making mountains out of molehills here?
I don't want to stir up any arguments or anything, I'm really happy My Little Pony has become more popular over the years and there are new toys with creative designs, I just can't help but feel disappointed.

May post pics of some of my messed up quality ponies if anyone wants to see/if I get around to it

TL;DR: they ain't making them like they used to

Wow, so many got so many nice ones! And I'm sure all the little girls are pretty excited, too. (I am also incredibly jealous of that Oakley)

Pony Corral / Re: Matte vs ..standard sparkles?
« on: December 22, 2012, 08:33:44 AM »
What do you mean by matte?
I think she means ponies that lack the shimmery body most G3s have.

The only ones I can think of are the ones that I have/want
All My Heart and Minty V are a bit shimmery, but nowhere near as much as my other G3s and the only other two that come to mind are Hidden Treasure and Island Delight.

Just wanna jump in and say I think the seller did mention it:

I went to take a big whiff of her candy scent, only to be greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke. (my fault for not noticing that part of the seller's description)

It's so easy to miss little things like that in descriptions in my experience, especially if it's a very long wall of text :P

I do hope you manage to get her lovely scent back with any of these methods PWN-E :)
I really did go back and look for literally 10 minutes and did not fin a single thing mentioning the smell. I didn't really want to point fingers at anyone right away but they really didn't and that makes me pretty miffed. I'm going to send them a mail when I get the chance to.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I've been airing her out so far during the daytime but at night as soon as I go down to the grocery store and get some baking soda I'll keep her sealed up with some.

Thanks for the advice. I checked back on the seller's listing and there actually was no mention of her smell. Not cool, man. Welp. She's going to be more of a fixer-upper than I initially thought.

I recently bought a Caramel Crunch off of ebay and when she arrived (in a neat an timely manner) I went to take a big whiff of her candy scent, only to be greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke. (my fault for not noticing that part of the seller's description) After my olfactory bulb recovered from that mess I realized I'm not sure how to fix this. Is there any way to remove the smokey odor without getting rid of the candy scent?

And for that matter, what would you do to get rid of unpleasant smells on a flocked pony, as well?

She's a good pony I found with a few marks on her NDS and flawless hair, I'd hate to have something like this ruin her for me. I might post some pics later.

Introductions / Well hello there ladies and gents

Hey there. I'm Mallory, an art major finishing up my first semester in college. I grew up playing with family friend's old G1 ponies and fell in love with them. Started up my own G3 back in middle school but got rid of them because of bullying. I'm looking to start up a G1-3 collection once again and learn a little bit about customization.
