I'm considering bringing this back this year! A few changes will need to take place. First, no prizes. I can't afford them. The only prize will be the satisfaction of finishing :lol:

Second, since a lot of people waited for all the voting results to come in before starting, voting this time will start this month and the working time will be Feb-April.

Third, and I wanted your opinion on this one, should the voting options be the same as last time? Or, take away the options that won last time? (except the colors? I think those should stay) OR start from scratch? You can check the link at the top to see what won, it's on the first post.

My opinion? I think we should keep it the same but add to each category.

Would you be interested in joining? :)

I'm going forward with it :happy: I'd like some more ideas for categories or anything else you can think of!

All of the yes to it returning! I didn't get past voting for the design last time, so I'd be excited to join regardless of the voting process :3 but adding to the categories sounds nice!

I would definitely be very interested in this! Haven't done many customs lately and something like this to push my creativity would be fantastic!
I have never done any custom this way so it will be interesting experience   :)

I'd be interested in joining again, this was really fun!

IMO there's no need to leave out the options that were selected last time, it's unlikely that we'd get the same combos. Adding to the categories would be fine, of course!

What should we add to the categories? From last time we have:

Polls 1, 2 & 3 - Colors: Body, hair, eyes
Polls 4, 5 & 6 - Theme, symbols, markings
Polls 7 & 8 - Accessory, required material (these are not mutually exclusive)

For the colors, we had all of them including the different hues like red included pink, blue included turquoise, etc.

For theme we had:

Fantasy (includes dark fantasy)
Weather
Animals
Outer Space (includes things manmade in space/associated with space)
Everyday objects
Games (includes table-top, video and physical/sports)
Food (includes dessert, sweets and drinks)
Four Seasons
Underwater
Music
Travel
Celebrations
Elements
Science and Technology (includes the future)
Old Timey (opposite of the future, the past)

Symbols:

Stars
Hearts
Diamond Shape
Leaves
Flowers
Swirls
Dots
Bubbles
Sparkles
Geometric Shapes

Secondary markings:

Blaze
Hoof Heart in G3 style
Dark points (like on a Siamese cat. Darker ears, muzzle and legs)
Blush
Freckles
Paint (the horse marking - does not have to be white unless that color is chosen)
Zebra stripes
Leopard spots
Snake skin
Appaloosa
Splatter effect
Socks (the horse/animal marking - does not have to be white unless that color is chosen)

Accessory:

Book(s)
Animal companion (includes birds, fish and insects)
Necklace
Crown
Bow or Ribbon
Saddle
Plant(s)
Hairpiece
Mask (includes surgical and respirators)
Weapon(s)

And required material:

Cardboard (any kind, from a cereal/food box, cardstock or corrugated heavy duty)
Plastic (includes cellophane/cling wrap)
Tissue paper (includes napkins/paper towels/toilet paper)
Beads (includes sequins, crystals and other small decorative items)
Metal (includes aluminum and wire including beading wire)

Please suggest anything you think of!

For the theme I was thinking of adding Classic MLP, where we make an MLP inspired pony with no sculpting unless you want to add MLP styled horns or wings, is brushable and has a simple symbol.

Could we add Horror? Or do you think too many people would be uncomfortable with that?

Medieval?

Cinema/pop culture?

Great categories to begin with though to me that "symbols" seems a bit weird because there will be a theme anyways, but if those patterns (whatever will be chosen) should be just some minor detail in symbol then I guess it makes sense.  ^.^

Definitely adding Medieval would be nice, perhaps also pop culture or culture in general including books and movies etc.? Would also be happy with horror theme  :)

Maybe fabric/yarn/leather could be added to the materials options?

What about adding some bag/suitcase to accessories?

And I love the Hasbro theme idea.

I'm down for Horror if it can include occult (think tarot, baphomet, arcane symbols etc. I don't watch horror movies,or play horror games, but I do love me some witchy and/or occult stuff :> ), or witchy/occult could be its own category maybe?

Eyehadow for secondary markings!

I think a colour category could be ALL of the colours. Rainbow pony x)

Yes, the symbols part is just an additional decoration you need to incorporate :)

Popping in to say that I’m up for doing this!  My pony from the previous DTIYS challenge is still a WIP but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to finish it up at the same time  :lol:

I love the categories you have and definitely love the idea of adding medieval and/or pop culture/cinema as well as the other suggestions. The more possibilities the better!

I’ve been very uninspired lately and I’m hoping this gives me a kick start in the creativity!
