Customs / Re: Do you ever feel bad customizing a pony?

You can work around ripped plugs, don't give up yet! I had a pony who came to me with a dramatically ripped-out hairline, and someone had shoved (and glued) a huge chunk of wig hair into her neck! It was crazy! But I took a strong glue (it might have been Loc-Tite? I think E-3000 would also work great!) and glued the busted hairline back together, and held it in place with a scrunchie. Then once the glue had set, I punched in new holes on either side of the ripped/glued line, and added tons of glue inside when I was done, so it sort of made a new foundation to hold her head together! You wouldn't know to look at her, unless you parted her hair!

had another incident like this happening with a Firefly I'm rehairing, she had no tail and it felt a bit moot to order a bunch of hair just to replace her tail, so I kinda just went "New hair for you!" Ironically the other pony is also a firefly, and the one I ended up replacing with, firefly :'D good thing she's super common I do tend to spot her often!

But when I removed her mane whoops, there went her hairline, I tried superglue first that didn't work so I had to take out the hair plugs because it was just looking bad, but then I did a similar thing you mentioned, glued it shut, wrapped  rubber bands around it and also glued it on the inside

but that did the trick and she's currently drying, i'll brush and trim her mane after work, the glue should be dry by then :3 I'll def do the same for the other firefly, I plan on making her a super cute custom!

But I wanna focus on a different custom first, that isn't firefly :'D

A bit! Even if I haven't customized a lot of ponies and currently am more in restoration mode, I do love the HQG1C for that very reason, though I do wish they'd bring back molds or do more, baby pony molds PLEASE, even though the closest would be Starglow ponies, in terms of shipping *sigh*

I messed up on my first custom and accidently ripped the hair plugs on the head D: and I'm not very convident about my sculpting skills yet, and the body is fine so I could just put a new head on the body, but that means i'm left with a pony head i'm clueless what to do with

But that also seems to come with the territory, just lots and lots of spare bits

Pony Corral / Princes Ivy's lipstick
« on: September 15, 2023, 08:53:23 AM »
Recently I added Princess Ivy to my collection, I did already have one but I wanted her accesories and sadly generally that means having to buy effectively a brand new or near brand new pony, however her lipstick is pretty used up, which got me wondering does anyone know what her lipstick was made out of? And how it can be removed from the pony (assuming that is possible) perhaps it can be restored, though even if not I'm still happy to have her as is XD

Pony Corral / What's the thing you enjoy most doing with your ponies?
« on: September 02, 2023, 08:24:44 AM »
I love giving my ponies spa days, either because I managed to pull some of my collection from my dad's attic and been sitting in a box for years or because I bought some second-hand. I find it very relaxing to just give them a nice clean and do their hair :D

Any pony can be rehaired too without cutting the head off. You simply cut the affected plugs as short as possible and pull the rest inside the head. Then you prepare in a hair plug with a knot in the middle and push that gently in the head with the rehairing tool. Cool and easy for several plugs only. I wouldn't do that with a full head.

In general you will break the mechanism when removing the head yes but with the right glue (epoxy - no super glue) you glue back the tiny piece and can put her back together.

You can? Oh I will have to test it on some of my other ponies! Got a few missing their front locks (they were snipped) and got a yum yum with one or two missing plugs thanks for the tip! :D Knowing me I'd def end up breaking the mechanism and that would be a shame

Pony Brag Arena / Vinted ponies
« on: August 26, 2023, 01:53:56 AM »
Vinted is a pretty cool place to find ponies and these are the ones I picked up! (there were so many more but alas i can only afford so many) A grail of mine! Princess silver swirl, almost complete, she's only missing her little dragon friend, thankfully I found someone selling it so she'll be complete soon! Now she was given a fakie saddle to wear, the metalic kind with sparkly transluscent wings with purple tips, hopefully you guys know what kind of saddle I mean, which sadly stained her pretty good :( I pray i can get it off using a magic sponge or maybe oxy bath, I rather not risk using acetone due to her markings. But onto the next, baby swirly! She's missing one of her eye crystals but luckily for me it's stuck in her mane, so a bit of glue will solve that, her head is very discolored, i suspect it's the old glue. She has a bit of paint damage on of her hooves, otherwise she's great!

Light heart, I doubt i'll be able to find her other mane and tail set, but she's still very cool, was part of a lot with baby swirly and Satin slipper! Very yellowed with age, she'll def be my first retro brighting subject haha

Mommy and Daddy Bright boquette, I did buy the babies but I still need to go pick them up! I also have the celebration family on the way and am eying the apple delight family too hehe, but mom and dad are both in near mint condition, mom only has 2 tiny what seem to be marker spots and a tiny bit of damage in her other eye, manes and tailes are silky smooth and not cut! I can tell their previous owner took great care of them. I'll admit usually I don't really care for the tailbows or bowties on the ponies, but these guys are tempting me to give them their ribbons back

Lady Elegant, I bought her with the intention to customize her, she is VERY sun bleached and her cutie mark has almost entirely worn off, her move mechanism is broken or almost broken, it kinda works but not entirely, it'd be awesome to see if I can fix it once I open her up, who knows maybe I can share my findings with others so they too might be able to fix their magic motion ponies. I'll admit I'm tempted to find one in better condition, she is awefully adorable

Satin Slipper x 2, as mentioned one was part of a lot with Light heart and Swirly, and while I never owned her I was VERY tempted to gether accesories for her, however the only way to do that was to buy another one with all of her accesories, but not complaining, can't ever have enough ponies ey? Maybe once I'm more skilled I can make my own tutu and shoes for her, custom satin slipper in the future? Maybe!

And lastly Star Gleamer! She was a free bonus pony I got when buying lady elegant She's also moddeling the pony wear set I bought for me, was surprised to find those shoes were made of rubber, I didn't expect that, some kind people pointed me towards a guide so I can remove her head and fix her mane, she's missing a lot of plugs and the tinsel is a mess, her tail is in great shape, or well least am certainly going to need to wash and condition it, but I don't have to go about replacing it thankfully

I'm glad to add these guys to my herd, also the outfit, I'll admit I def want to hunt down more pony wear, out of all the things to suddenly desire XD Anyways, hope you guys like my finds as much as I do

Pony Corral / Rehairing a Brush and grow pony
« on: August 23, 2023, 12:29:29 PM »
Hi everyone been a while since I signed in oops! But I recently bought some new ponies and as a bonus was given a Star Gleamer, it didn't take me long to figure out what she was when I noticed her head making a little clicking sound when I twisted it and her tail getting shorter, a brush n grow pony! Very neat, never owned one of these and didn't think i would!

now she is missing some plugs and of course the tinsel in her mane has broken off or gone all ruffled, now I wonder is it possible to remove the head without breaking the mechanism inside? besides her mane she's looking alright, has some mystery stains i need to take a look at, but generally seems she just needs some TLC just would love to fix up her mane if possible

it seems I'll have to ship mine over from another country, amazon doesn't have them in my own country  :(

I forgot G2 did better in Europe hah, but that is a goregous custom! I saw two very baity G2's like manes entirely gone, missing strass stones, cutie marks rubbed off, tail almost cut entirely, poor girls! I was thinking to pick them up and customize them, well down the line as I already have several projects planned so that will be a while

I def would be both if I had room! collect and customize :D
