Two versions of my web design portfolio
« on: April 09, 2016, 09:39:26 PM »
Hey all!

I'm a web designer and looking for work (preferably within an established design firm, but any promise of ongoing work is good!)

Recently I've been working on refreshing my online presence. And my portfolio has two versions:

One is a bit more quirky/creative (also, it looks better on desktop): http://heylouise.space
Pros: It stands out and looks clever!
Cons: Works ok on mobile, but not great. Also, people might feel weird about the ".space". (I'm told that the traditional ".com" inspires more credibility.)

Version two is more generic (also, it functions better on mobile): http://louisekdesign.com
Pros: May, appeals to a wider audience; less artsy type people. (Also the ".com" feels more familiar.) Works better on mobile/tablet.
Cons: It looks plain.

Thoughts/input?

---

Update: http://louisekdesign.com now has a design that is a mix of the two previous ones. 'heylouise' will be re-purposed into a slightly different website.

I like the.com version. I like how you have "A selection of freelance and personal projects" above samples of your work. When I looked at the .space site first, I thought the photo icons for sites you'd designed were just third party ads until I moved my cursor over them. I think having that heading helps.

However, I like your resume at the bottom of the .space site. And would incorporate that into whichever version you use. I'd drop the classmate quote though, since theoretically anyone could have someone say something like that about one of their skills.

Those are my thoughts :)

I prefer heylouise.space, it goes more with the current trends of web design, it's much more eye-catching and concise and there's less scrolling ;3

I like the .com one better but I'm really not the best judge. I do wish you luck though!
