Which version of cotton candy is this?

I'm just listing some ponies for sale but I need some help with identifying which release of Cotton Candy I have here. She looks very pink to me so I wondered if she was mail order, but I don't have another CC to compare her to so I'm not sure. Any help would be much appreciated! <3

I believe the mail order version was very bright pink

It can be soooo hard to tell when there is nothing to compare her to because you never know what a camera or a computer makes a colour look like.

She does look like the right shade for MO Cotton Candy who is like a super bright pink. So I would be reasonably certain that that's who she is.

I see you have a Parasol in the background - could you perhaps take a picture with her beside Parasol or another pink pony. Then I ll take a picture with MO Cotton Candy, regular Cotton Candy and Parasol for you and we can maybe compare the pictures? That should point us in the right direction for certain I would say.

I don't have many pink G1s, I only have Parasol or Movie Firefly on hand? Which would be better?

She looks like MO CC to me too. My MO CC is similar or more vibrant than Firefly (but I don't have the movie version) and regular CC looks much softer pink than both.

Go with Parasol - she is light enough that it should be really obvious in comparison.

Ugh.  Without the flash I would have said she's Year 2 store release, but with the flash I'm not sure.  The MO is kind of a hot bubble gum pink color . . . yours looks a bit mild in tone but I guess I'm leaning MO.

Here is a photo of my cotton candy with blue belle.  Not sure if that helps any. Mine was not MO as I recall.

Kegan--You are correct!  That one is definitely the Year 1 CF release, which was a correction of the somewhat awkward tip-over FF pose (as modeled by Blue Belle in your photos).  When Year 2 rolled around (beginning of 1984), Cotton Candy was reissued in a medium pink--and it is this one that bears a closer resemblance to the hot bubble gum pink MO.

The non MO is much lighter like Kegans. I have MO and non MO if a pic of them together would help... alas I've sold my parasol though so I don't have her to put between them for you... I have firefly but not the movie version which is what I think you have... do you have any other pink ponies? If we have the same one I could put both of mine beside the non-CC to help you compare, do you have Northstar? Steamer? baby Hearthrob? Kingsly? baby Bouncy?

Zabe77, I don't have any other pink G1s than those two. I have a G4 Pinkie Pie and the styling size G3 Pinkie Pie but I've been selling most of my ponies so I have no-one else on hand right now, sorry! >.<

Me too tinrobo slowly trimming down my collection, still funny though, that there are so many common pink G1s but we don't have any that match! Ah well... hopefully hathorcat will solve it for you.
