Back at it with my "what is this variation" posts.
I got a lovely addition today for my collection; mexican Peppermint Crunch! What's even better is that she has a gorgeous factory error (if it is one?) with her eyes being dark pink. I quess it could also be her original unfaded eye color but there's no pictures of other mx Peppermint Crunches with non-lavender eyes, not even on a mexican collectors collection pictures despite them having atleast six. The eyes look factory made too.

I honestly prefer Crunchie this way over the lavender eyed ones. <3

EDIT: better pictures

Pony Corral / This Peachy became a rockstar, I quess
« on: January 20, 2019, 05:11:36 PM »
Last summer I found this poor, poor italian Peachy aka Pesca from a thrift shop. Her mane and tail were brown from dirt, she of course had rust stains inside, a cut ear, hair and tail cut, symbol rub...

I felt bad enough for her to take her home and see could anything be done, and soon I realized I actualy kinda like her mohawk look too. Then I started getting crazy ideas. Yesterday I finaly boiled her body and head for the sake of sanitation so I could get going with my weird concepts. And now I have this odd custom-ish Pesca who I actualy kinda like.

We have an inside joke on an MLP discord server that she is part of a punkband, that includes one users bald 2003 Strawberry Shortcake doll and another ones G4 Rainbow Dash that's haircut is like something Rainbow would have in a post apocalyptic alternate universe! Pesca would be the lead singer haha

Pony Corral / Sites to buy pony hair from?
« on: January 05, 2019, 02:38:52 PM »
Suddenly, I can't find any of the threads with recommendations of where to buy dollhair from. Google too is being a dummy and recommending Target and chinese sites like Aliexpress instead of actual hobbyist sites. I know Dollyhair and Retrodolls, but what others were there..? I'm mainly looking for a better matching tail for my spanish piggy pony and I think I saw well matching hair somewhere, but I can't find the site or the Arena thread I found the site from suddenly. It's quite hard to find anything even near the wisteria/brambleberry like purple with a deep pink tone to it that is piggy purple.

So what all places do you guys buy your ponyhair from? The more recommendations the better.

Pony Corral / What are your ultimate grails?
« on: January 05, 2019, 12:30:09 PM »
There's probably a thread like this floating somewhere, but I have no idea where.. so hopefuly it won't hurt to start a new one.
What are your ultimate grails? Those ponies that you want the most, more than any other pony, or perhaps wanted the most but have already aquired. It doesn't matter how rare it is or what gen it is, even though most of us are deeply in love with certain nirvana variants.

For me that special one would be brazilian Truly. I fell in love with the soft shade of pink and beautiful light blue in her hair the first moment I saw a picture of her! I love pegasi ponies, and br Truly especialy is almost like an angel. I have some other major grails, like brazilian North Star and completely light green mail order Star Hopper, but br Truly is the pony in my dreams.

MLP Nirvana / Brown argie Blue Belle??!
« on: December 02, 2018, 08:21:53 AM »
Don't even ask, I just decided to check how much argies does Argentinas Mercadolibre actualy have. Among odd fat Snuzzles I saw this:

Has this once been all purple or do we have a new (or atleast unlisted on Mylittlewiki) argentinian variant? Listing had pictures of hooves and one had Hasbro 82 and maybe something covered by lighting, others were empty.
For curious argentinian collectors this was 530 pesos and I found it with Mi Pequeno Pony 82 or something like that.

Pony Corral / Tons of tiny black spots inside a pony? Mildew?
« on: November 20, 2018, 12:52:13 PM »
So yeah. A tootsie I got has an interesting issue going on:
(Images have been edited to make the spots clearer)

I assume it's mildew? More of, any tips on how to get rid of them? I usualy scrub a rusty etc pony with a tootbrush that has detergent, but it didn't work with her. She has now been in vinegar/water for weeks. Next attempt is baking soda. The spots seem to be in her plastic itself.

Pony Brag Arena / Caught Baby Candy and GREEK Baby Bowtie in the wild
« on: November 17, 2018, 09:20:59 AM »
Our countrys capital has a quite cool shop for used toys. It's in a shady area filled with small garages and other business' related to car parts. But that toy shop, lying in the place you'd least expect, is unique in our country. They sell all kinds of toys from the 80s to today and the place is cramped full.
Of course, this means they also have G1 ponies. They aalways cost 12€ each, no matter if it's a baity Lemon Drop or a rare euro exclusive. Last time they only had three awfuly common ponies, but this time I was greeted with a nice surprise: Baby Candy!!! Now her set isn't that rare here in Finland, but still a great find.
Later on I made an even better discovery: behind the cashiers desk, on a pile of toys, I spotted a baby pony with neon bright bled symbols. (According to the shops owner it was a pile of unsorted toys that had just gotten stuck the way it is, and resembled more of a monument at this point) Immediatly I thought of greek ponies, and asked to see it. After the pony was handed to me, I realized I had been correct! It was greek baby Bowtie!!! And I thought it would be irrational to think I could find more nirvanas, after finding a piggy in a charity shop and Regentropfen at a flea market last year. I was wrong. Funny enough, we have been considering going to Greece next year if we can gather the money!

Baby Bowtie is missing half of her mane plugs and has some cuts in her leftover mane. She also has an orange stain on her face. Her symbols have faded to resemble a pink stain, too. ): Some tail rust and a dry tail, but I'll get to those eventualy.
Baby Candy just has some head-body mismatch going on. She will just need a tail and mane wash now.

Pony Corral / Acne cream victim or sunfaded?
« on: October 26, 2018, 11:30:02 AM »
So uh.. a few weeks ago I went to pick up my herds newest nirvana member. The mexican Perfume Palace pony. She should be pink, as in this: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:Mex-perfume-puff.jpg
But mine is.. yellow/orange. The first picture doesn't even show how yellow she is. She has been rerooted, and in general some poor restoration attempt has gone to her. But she hasn't even been cleaned inside..? She had some dark dirt at the bottom of her hoove and she was all slimy outside. And whoever tried to "fix" her this didn't even exchange her rusting washer despite changing the tail itself,

(Yes that's the tail exactly as I got it out as)

In general, her discoloration reminds me of a severe acne cream victim Thundercloud I saw here on Arena a while ago. I assume my Perfume Palace pony too has been cleaned with acne cream, but it could also be sunfading. Opinions on that matter?

I know very few of this ponys origin. The person I bought her from had gotten it in some lot.

MLP Nirvana / Estimated value for violet symbol Azul Celeste?
« on: October 16, 2018, 01:17:33 PM »
I'm curious. I'd never sell my only piggy pony of course, but I still want to know what she could be worth if she wasn't what would be considered bait condition on a common pony.
And I indeed mean the piggy pose Blue Belle with purple hair and purple stars, not pink stars like the more common variants. Anybody have any ideas of what one would be worth in ok condition? She never pops up on Ebay so I have absolutely no idea.

Pony Corral / Safest way to fade pen marks?
« on: August 06, 2018, 01:51:27 PM »
I usualy avoid using chemicals stronger than multi-purpose cleaner and such, but I think I could do an exception on that finaly. I have heard chlorite/water mixes are commonly used, but how safe is it in the end?
I have a sunfaded Baby Lickety Split with very large ballpointpen marks, and I'd like to try saving her. She is severly sunfaded, so the plastic fading to a lighter pink due to chemicals wouldn't worry me. I just want to fade the pen marks as much as I can.

Edit: Because people keep asking, I apparently will be waiting a year or two to get her sunfaded hopefuly.

Pony Corral / Fakie... merchandise?!
« on: July 03, 2018, 02:22:56 PM »
I know far too well it exists. So please show if you have any!
As fakie merchandise I count everything unlicenced MLP like or copied from things besides ponies itself, but plushies, candles, small figurines etc do count.
I don't think there's a topic for this yet, either. (Or seemingly is? Sorry. I have seen mainly ones for fake ponies mainly)
I mainly just got curious of what else there is going around after gathering my own oddities, and so naturaly I want to start, I'll add details tomorrow. Most strange one definetly is the unicorn plush with Hasbro Softies MLP plushies head.

Pony Corral / Baby Applejack with yellow apples?
« on: June 21, 2018, 02:16:39 PM »
Soo... I spotted a G1 baby Applejack with yellow apples stamped Hong Kong on sale (before you get excited, the seller asks 200€ for her), and got curious as I had never seen this kind of variation. It seems any G1 info sites either don't acknowledge a variation like this! The colour does not imply certain fading: I found two images of a paler symbol baby Applejack, but the faded color was still obviously an orange. This is a bright yellow. The eyes are blue as well, wich might be fading or not, and the body tone is paler. Even if it is faded, she has a whole new color scheme compared to the original.
I'm not planning on buying it or anything, I'm just very curious. Does anyone know more about this odd variant, if she is one? Where does it originate from or is it a factory error? Maybe fading, or maybe one of a kind oddity? Maybe even a very rare variant like the Thai Mountain boys?

I can link the Instagram post if it is allowed later.
 https://www.instagram.com/p/BjkxDjRAQ39/
Here is the link, the pony is on the second image and forward. It is also sold by a long term collector wich, along with the symbols color and it being same color on both side and the bright blue eyes, makes me doubt it would be fading. The collector selling it has a huge collection, even mint on card nirvanas, so the person who came to conclusion it's a variant is a very experienced now former collector himself.
Edit: It might be fading or a variant. I would not close either chances.
Nonethless, it is a rather unique pony. I have not seen baby Applejacks with symbols that have faded to bright yellow instead of a more pale orange, AND eyes faded to a shade of turqoise AND a body faded to lighter tone.
Edit 2: after better images of the pony being added and long discussion, the possibilities are 60/50 on fading or error/variant.
Edit 3: If the images we are promised to get by monday don't change the direction of this mystery, she is almost certainly merely faded. A very beautifuly faded one, may I add.

Introductions / Introduction..?
« on: June 19, 2018, 12:20:41 PM »
Hello. A bit newer collector trying to find her way to these circles.
Basics would be that I'm an 18 year old girl from southern Finland. Naturaly, english is not my first language and on top of that I at times somehow skip words when writing, so sorry before hand for odd typos!
One of my few passions is old toys such as Pokemon cards, Digimon and Lion King plush toys, and of course, G1 My Little Ponies.
I never had ponies as a kid. I wasn't a big fan of girly toys expect for Littlest Petshops, and to top that LPS were cheaper than G3 My Little Ponies. Despite that I had Desert Rose and Secret Wishes as a child.
G1 MLPs came to my life a lot later in a bit of an odd manner: I was thrifting as usual back in 2016. I knew some old ponies were valuable and I had heard of nirvanas via mirage Pokemon plush info posts, so I tried to find rarities to sell forward. I managed to spot G1 Red Roses for an euro, and of course bought her. But it didn't really go as planned, after a few hours I was totaly in love with her! (And kept her)
After that I slowly started buying more ponies, and later on it became one of my main collections. I also fell in love with restoring these lovelies, I find it relaxing. Rerooting and mold removing I have still never tried, but plan to try stronger chemicals with a slightly moldy Remco fakie.
Nowadays I skip almost no pony while thrifting, and my collection stands at 40 brightly colored ponies, including even such rarities as Azul Celeste the piggy pony, Regentropfen, and the Surprise Twins ponys blue baby. I don't buy a lot online partly due to shipping costs, and over half of my collection consists of thrifting miracles. (Including all three listed before!)
Some of my favorite ponies from my own collection are Tex, Polly, Star Hopper (bought online unlike the rest listed), Azul Celeste, Northstar and Rain Feather. :) My dream ponies I probably never will achieve are mail order Star Hopper (lighter colored) and brazilian Truly!
A couple of G3s and their playsets have also found their way to my collection, but they aren't that imporant for me. I hope this goes for an introduction. ❤
