Title: Dollhouses and miniatures
Post by: BlackCurtains on January 24, 2023, 03:34:12 PM
Is anyone a miniature enthusiast? I am and make my own, though I'm just now getting into furniture and more complicated things. Mostly I make mini realistic food.

I'd really love to build my own dollhouse or at the very least, a room box.

Ready made minis are welcome too :) Re-Ment, Mini Brands, etc. You can get kits to make a mini room or house/shop (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=miniature+house+kit&sprefix=miniature%2Caps%2C145&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_2_9). Everything comes with them.

I watch a lot of mini artists on YouTube, one guy makes everything out of popsicle sticks :whoa: and there's this other dude who uses a lot of plastic boards and makes WORKING versions of like, sinks and stoves. Amazing!

I went to a miniature museum as a child. I think my lifelong love of little things started there.

There was a time where I was really into re-ment. I sold it all though.
I’m still intrigued by miniatures but don’t collect or make them.
I’ve thought it might be really fun to make an open top style full miniature apartment someday, or a model of my house.

I have a half-built Robotime Cathy's Flower House built - I need to actually finish it, it was a really satisfying and relaxing project to work on!

(Not my photo)

I think it'd be super cute to have some of my Sylvanian Families hang out in there :')

I found some miniature food items in our local library book box.  Sometimes people leave toys and stickers and other fun things...
but this is like 1:12 salad dressing, coffee tin, Miracle Whip, Lemonade mix, etc.   I don't know why they exist but they are adorable.   but I put in several books and only took out the minis as fair trade...

Those are so cute! I love tiny everyday items, there's just something about seeing something quite mundane in teeny-tiny replica form that makes me smile.

Aflame, those photos are STUNNING!! I had to look over them a few times before I realized they were miniatures and not real!

Love this thread! I love miniatures, especially all these mini branded things that are popular lately ^^ Just get a big kick out of tiny versions of real things.

Aflame I can hear the wind and hoofbeats when I look at your photos!  YAY

thanks for IDing the little foods I have, BC!
I don't know where my husband's super magnifying goggles are,  but I couldn't find anything that said "Mini Brands"  on the labels, it's all perfectly accurate to the product brand.

Yeah, they're all officially licensed. They come in a blind bag type ball. I think you get 5 per ball. There is Mini Brands food and groceries, games and toys (which includes miniature G4 Applejack and Twilight Sparkle and Carebears), fashion, pets, and... the mini make-its. I think that's all. I'm tempted to buy everything but I don't have any. They're a little spendy and it's a blind bag, so... those are no fun unless it's the first.

So, I have news! I'm going to attempt to build a 3-room house from cardboard boxes. It's going to have a kitchen, dining room, and a fenced in backyard. All in 1:12 scale. I plan to do 99% of everything myself. The exception would be the wallpaper and lights. Maybe some other things I can't think of. But I'm going to try and DIY every piece :D
