Introductions / It's been a while
« on: June 18, 2021, 09:48:04 AM »
Hello, just popping in to say hi! I see some familiar faces.
You may see me around asking questions because I've dusted off my collection and am getting ready to sell a few ponies I've had in a dark cabinet for far too long, I think they have vitamin D deficiency at this point.

For Sale - For Auction / MIP/MOC G1 Including TAF Babies on eBay
« on: September 11, 2018, 06:49:21 AM »
Hi everyone,
My username on eBay is hearts.ponies and I have listed a few MIP/MOC ponies on eBay including MIP TAF babies. I just wanted to post here to remind you all that I am a member here (albeit long absent!) and I am planning on listing about 15 more MOC ponies and some rare/HTF loose ponies in excellent condition in the coming weeks including Pearlized mail order babies and Euro exclusives (Mountain Boys, German baby ponies, etc).

Thank you all, I guess my timing is good. Anyone know what if any additional price I could ask for those still in their bags?  I think I'm probably just going to post an auction here, so I will likely just have a very reasonable minimum offer on them and let people bid to what they think is fair. I've been holding on to them long enough that I don't even remember what I paid for them in the first place. Is the sales board active enough for something like that? I would prefer to sell most of my collection to fellow Arena members if feasible but I'll move on to eBay if there's a lack of interest. While I'm ready to sell, I still want them to go to good homes where they will be cherished. I can't believe eBay + PayPal now take 15%! I suspect that alone might be inflating prices.

Thanks for any help, I've been out of the pony world for a while and need to sell a chunk of my collection, I'm starting with just the TAF Babies to get things going.

Yep she's from Otono, I saw that Atlias in the same batch and was tempted, but I know they're grails to some so I decided I was more than happy enough with Love Melody :) I would love to find a Sweet Tooth in need of similar TLC.

I have a wingless FS Rainbow Dash and FS Ralestia.

MLP Nirvana / Re: How do I proceed? (selling a Nirvana)
« on: May 19, 2013, 09:58:48 AM »
Most of us are used to high shipping prices for Nirvanas. If you're willing to pay half the cost of shipping with tracking I think most people would find the price reasonable. Shipping prices in Canada are still high, but not quite as high as Norway. You will also need to make sure your buyer is prepared to pay import fees based on the pony's real value if applicable. Those fees can get steep for pricier ponies. It is expected that the buyer pay them, but if they're not aware in advance it can be an unpleasant surprise.

MLP Nirvana / New Restore Victim: Argie TAF Love Melody
« on: May 19, 2013, 09:27:30 AM »
I'm so excited, my new restoration project is here! I haven't had much time for pony-related stuff lately and I'm excited to do another challenging restoration. TAF Love Melody has a lot of potential! TAF ponies are my favorite line and I could never afford to buy every variant in display-ready condition. I was able to buy Argie TAF Love Melody for a very good price in unfortunate condition. She's a real fixer-upper.

The Good
- No haircuts! Rehairing can seriously devalue Nirvana ponies. I don't plan to sell her anytime soon, but it's an important thing to keep in mind.
- Her symbols are fantastic. Only two hearts have missing paint.

The Not So Good
- Extensive blue marker. Her forehead, butt, all 4 hooves, mouth, and eyelashes have marks. Also one orange mark next to her face symbol.
- Serious paint loss on both eyes will need to be touched up.
- Damage to plastic on one ear, one hoof, and one leg.
- Rusty tail washer needs to be replaced, insides derusted.

The Plan
- Full body scrub, tail removal, derusting treatment
- Off to the sunfadery for a few months (she will need a lot of time and rotating)
- Tail washer replacement and hair conditioning treatment.
- Will send her to have her eyes fixed by an expert (this is the one thing I'm not skilled enough to do myself)

I have more pics but Photobucket's a joke if you're trying to access it on a cell phone and they aren't very high quality anyway XD I'll take some better ones to be the official "before" pictures.

Pony Corral / Re: Why are there so many Mib/Moc ponies from the 80's?
« on: March 24, 2013, 09:46:14 AM »
Some of my MOC/MIB ponies came from old abandoned toy stores, where they were left sitting around until an enterprising person got in and sold them off. Many are also from moms of the 80's who bought them and stored them away in an attic or closet and just simply forgot about them, until they found them and their kids were too old to want them. Those are probably the two biggest sources I've encountered :)

I also think some kids just prefer, for whatever reason, to keep their toys in the packaging. I would never have done this, but I have a cousin who was meticulous about keeping her collector barbies in their boxes even as a very little girl.

Stacking ponies can cause wonky legs and dents, so don't stack beyond one row with another on top and plenty of padding in between!

Bought 10 tickets :) It's so nice when people who can't afford to send much get together and make a bigger impact. Tiella, Reed is adorable! I hope that the cord blood can help him someday.

ALL the babies :) No surprise though, I'm in love with G1 babies too.

Customs / Re: Frizzy Curls, please help!
« on: March 20, 2013, 01:02:29 PM »
I've learned to hate that type of curler! They just don't seem to do well with pony hairstyles. I prefer the velcro-type curlers. Otherwise, sometimes I find I need to do a curly hair style twice with hot water to get the hair to want to cooperate and stay in place.

Pony Corral / Re: At What Point Do You Rehair?
« on: March 20, 2013, 10:18:18 AM »
Usually I prefer to rehair ponies with significant haircuts, or some other serious damage (mane rust happens!). This poor Sundance had tail rust and a buzz cut and she was dreadfully dingy. After months of sunfading and several deep cleanings, I gave her a special rehair, in her original color but much longer and thicker than normal:

She's my "official" collection Sundance and she hangs out wearing cute matching outfits with Megan.
