The Dollhouse / Re: Where to buy Blythe dolls
« on: March 02, 2021, 07:21:58 PM »
I know this post is nearing a year old but in case anyone comes to check...
Magma Heritage
CCToys
Junie Moon shop
Are all good places to buy new releases/legitimate dolls.

If you start searching secondhand there are several Facebook groups... lots of Facebook groups!

eBay is riddled with knockoffs (usually overpriced) so if you’re new to Blythe I’d go to the fb groups and ask for advice.

Don’t go to  thisisBlythe.com - it’s all knockoffs and stolen customized pictures  and overpriced last I checked. Someone took over the site after the original creator let the domain lapse.  :(

If you want to get into it for customizing age you do want a cheap knock offs then aliexpress is the way to go. Not real Blythe quality but not bad to destroy your first customs on 😂

What happens when your collection is like $40k+ lol?

You sell it and buy a house

No kidding, lol. I don't want to know monthly payments on something like that 0.0

Haha right ? If I could sell my collection I could probably have a nice car down payment... But that'll never happen

It seems what i said created a little debate, so i'll precise what i think.I'm not saying we should give a Rapunzel to the first child that enters our room.I'm just saying that i think that if you know the child and know she is careful, completely forbid her to touch any ponies (even the ones that aren't even slightly rare) will do more bad than good. But when i let children play with my ponies i always watch them to prevent anything going wrong.

I always keep a few Playable toys in my room. For me, it's blythe dolls- there are definitely 75% that NO CHILD could touch- but I have 2 or 3 dolls that they can mess up the hair, scratch the face--- I mean, I tell them to play nice, but they are reserved for play. So far, they are still in display condition ;)

[Mods: I'm not sure if this is the proper forum section... if not, please move]

I actually don't have much of a pony collection, but I'm a blythe collector and a friend of mine said I should ask the pony community about insurance on their collections.
I'm just wondering if you have insurance and how the heck you even go about getting insurance on something like a collection. Seems like prices are always changing, imperfections in each piece can effect prices, etc... How does your insurance stay up-to-date with current prices? What kind of questions would you need to ask when getting insurance?

Any help is appreciated!

Customs / Re: where to find glow in the dark hair/dyeing glow hair?
« on: September 18, 2012, 08:32:18 AM »
the only one I know of that has glow in the dark hair for sure that I visit is retrodollus, and hers is white glow in the dark polypropylene,.. so you wouldn't even be able to dye it.

can you not dye polypropylene?

Post Merge: September 18, 2012, 08:33:33 AM

Depends on what the wig is made of whether or not you could dye it. Alot of synthetic hair won't dye at all.

hmmm... good to know.  i've seen anime tutorials about permanent marker/alcohol dye methods or also acrylic ones but I cant' seem to find a lot of information about staining, etc...
