Pony Corral / Re: My Little Pony references in other media!

gah, yeah. That infamous time traveling Twilight Sparkle. Egregious.

A lot of shows will use MLP expies as the default for girl's toys and cartoons. It's the easy thing to go for, and unfortunately tends to also be an easy target for belittling young girls. Ain't nothing wrong with wanting to brush a pretty pink pony's hair, y'all are just jealous ;)

My family used to get Bart Simpson (and mainline Simpsons) comic books when I was a kid. I recall one issue had a story where Bart wins a sweepstakes that will give him 15 minutes in a toy store to fill up a shopping cart for free. Most of the story was about Bart being harassed by just about everyone he knows, trying to coerce him into getting a product that they want. Lisa just asks if he can get her a My Pretty Expensive Pony. He's not planning on honoring his request, but shenanigans occur in the climax, and at the last minute on the timer he accidentally crashes the empty cart into a display of the pony toys. Lisa and Maggie are delighted at all of their new ponies, and Bart gets pushed around by bullies for getting a sissy toy.

Pony Corral / Re: Ever seen a pony in a dream?
« on: January 31, 2022, 03:01:24 PM »
Last night I dreamed that I stumbled upon a neighborhood yard sale where I discovered a series of My Pretty Pony that were modeled after some early g1 unicorns and pegasi. I took many pictures and started a thread on here to document what I was finding. They were each in box and everything.

Then just as I was getting ready to pay, I had a moment where my body woke up and opened its eyes for just a moment before slipping back under, and I realized this wasn't actually happening. Frustrated swearing ensued.

Finally! Now I can get back to eating them whole

Check out my pony that was signed by The Purple Guy from Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza

35
Probably this makes me odd, but a signed pony is entirely worthless to me. It's a pony with scribbles on it, thus wrecked. The idea of anyone signing a G1, no matter who they are, makes me shudder and cringe inside.

Agreed. I can see maybe an exception if it was written on bc it was, like, a production sample? But generally it’s atrocious.

Imgur warned me the image may contain adult content  I took the risk, and you’re right— she’s lovely. The stuff you photographed her with looks so cool, she’d totally be a naturalist.

I highly doubt that they believed what they were shilling.

omg, these look great  I don't think I can pick a favorite, but the so soft newborns and Baby Birthday are just darling.

39
Thank you, I like to think I spaced on that bc I'm a little sick, but maybe I just didn't know :P come on, me! you've traveled in Europe! Get it together!

It reminds me of the time I was at a toy fair and this vendor had a bunch of really common ponies lined up on the table at something like £10-£15 apiece. We're going back 15 years and these were lSunlight and Peachy and such. Under the table was a box of 'damaged' ones they were selling for 30p each. One of which was Spanish Strawberry Fair/Sugarberry...

I guess it's not as bad as being told rubbish by a stallholder about pony rarity, but let's just say it was a well spent 30p that day.

omg. My head's a little slow today so my American brain was trying to remember if 30p indicates pounds or pence, but you said they were damaged, so I'm guessing that's...pence?

Like, either way, hell of a story. Good purchase. VERY good purchase.

Time to get SPOOKY!

Here's Radiogram, the skeleton pony. Made before those bisected collectable figures, mind you!

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 1/27/2022 Bubbles
« on: January 27, 2022, 06:59:46 AM »
Bubbles is a tragic pairing of What Could Have Been in a pony. The sitting pose, discontinued after being used on just two mainline ponies, matched with the sweet diamond blaze on her face-- perfection! I understand why the pose wasn't reused (you can't sell clothes for a pony whose back half is one solid piece), but I wish more ponies had face blazes. I guess the designers just wanted to drift away from natural horse characteristics to lean into the fantasy aspect. Or they didn't want to go to the trouble of painting a whole different area.

She's so cute. A bubbles with a missing tail (along with a majesty and lemondrop) somehow made her way into my childhood g3 herd, and I distinctly remember that my sister and I imagined that she was paralyzed, and made a wheelchair for her out of Lego so that she could join in the other ponies adventures.

The bubbles I have in my collector herd now is a different bubbles, but nonetheless I was so happy to find her again ♥️

That's so sweet  :good: pony accessibility options

If only tumblr had a search function that gave more accurate and reliable results than throwing a dart while blindfolded, I'd be all over the tumblr memes...

Customs / Re: Name's the Same-- What do I do?!

I guess I'll stick with Cosmic Candy. I prefer the hard C sounds in the name to the softer S sounds of Sugar Stars, but maybe i'll use that name for another pony in the future...

This feels kind of that time a lady at a flea market was trying to insist and then argume with me that Baby Chucky Cheese Pony was worth more if it was signed. Or trying to tell me how much other ponies she had to sell were worth. And this was hummm, probably 20 years ago.

Signed???? By who? Charles Entertainment Cheese??????

Don't forget the edit where they claimed to be Native American and can get free college anyway! the whole thing is insane, start to finish.

Huh, I never saw that one. Probably won't dwell on that, but it's another colorful thread in the tapestry.
