Pony Corral / Re: Spring Photo Contest Voting - Week 1

I'm always seeking out wild violets at this time of year, and I love Baby Paws... My choice has been made for me!

The most recent email asked for excursion and event suggestions, which has got the blood flowing in my brain. Would other attendees be interested in a pony photo shoot session? A time to meet up with our customs and other ponies, to stage pictures with props and miniatures? Maybe even a session on deck, and one on the beach!

I have a repro and two Worlds Smallest, both of which I've rehaired for accuracy. (I thought I lost the first and bought another, and you know how that goes!) I've also got a deflocked bait Skippity-Doo that I've been mulling over, and I'm tempted to make her into an alt pose Minty. She's the right color for anniversary Minty, but I dunno...

I haven't been on a cruise since I was a little kid-- I'm super excited for this!

STUNNING! Cotton Candy might be my favorite, but it's a tough call. What beauties!

So cute!! Plus, since unicorn horns aren't their exact body color in g5, you could also repaint it if you're worried about taking off more paint than needed. And by "you" I mean me.

Lots of playing in water. Bad for the ponies in the long run, but I still don't regret it for all the fun I had.
What I DID regret was writing on my first g1 in sharpie. I was nine, I was growing up in g3, and I was so excited to get a classic pony that I totally defaced her. Whoops!

Meet Baby Munchy! Built from Newborn Toppy, I had a lot of fun working on her; Munchy is one of those ponies I'd love to own if I was a serious collector with money to spare. I realized this food truck lunch box would be a perfect setpiece, wouldn't you agree?

Waiting for ANYTHING to dry/cure. I'm so impatient, and nothing makes that more apparent than having to wait for something to dry before I can get to the next step. Paint, sealant, glue, sculpting medium-- so frustrating.

I agree with the prior comment about using the drying rack and experimenting with completely stripped baits. But also, I GOTTA commend your out of the box thinking. I am all about that innovation!

OOOOH she is adorable! I love the outfit you gave her and her colors are so good!

Sidenote, would LOVE to know your violet recipe! I made honeysuckle jelly last summer and loved it! I want to do more foraging and things, and I think I know the types of violets your talking about!

I don't remember what specific recipe I learned it from, but I got my start by just googling "violet syrup". You harvest and wash the flowers, and then keep them in a jar for 24 hours or so with freshly boiled hot water, stirring well when you first add the water. After it's steeped, you strain out the flowers, and you've got yourself a violet tea that you can use to make simple syrup.

Wild violets grow like weeds in my area. They are considered yard weeds, in fact. Before I found a small, infrequently visited park that I use as my main pantry, I would go on walks around the neighborhood and steal them from yard when no one was looking  :P

I like her symbol and her outfit. What does violet syrup taste like?

Thank you! It's not a very strong flavor, honestly-- it's lightly floral, kind of like rose water, but the flavor isn't concentrated. I think I only taste it when I'm looking for it, and I don't taste it at all in the lemonade.

Customs / Lady Lemonade <3

I'll be selling this darling at a local fair in April. Her name is a little to the point, but she just seems like such a gentlewoman. Like a fancy Victorian lady having a picnic. She is quite deserving of the Lady title!

She's partially inspired by another interest I have: making violet syrup from wild violets harvested from parks and yards and such. The liquid is a natural ph indicator-- it's deep blue at neutral levels, but when you expose it to acid, it turns purple and then deep pink. Adding it to a glass of lemonade is fun at small parties.

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone else think that G1 ponies look a bit sad?

They look very thoughtful. Shy Pose ponies especially look a little, well, shy.
