Ebay seller's brother OPENED my MIP Birthflowers?!?!
« on: April 09, 2013, 08:00:03 AM »
Okay, so a few days ago I won five mint-in-package G1 birthflowers for very good prices from ebay.  I was SUPER excited.  Afterwards, the seller messages me saying that during packing, her brother OPENED them all to check and make sure they were ok.  Whhaaaatttt??? They are in CLEAR packages!  You can freaking see through the bag to make sure it's okay!!!!  I was soooo disappointed.  I was really looking forward to those MIP birthflowers.  I was planning on collecting the whole set of 12 MIP, and I erroneously believed that I'd gotten a great start to that goal :(

I got my money back, but still, it was still a huge disappointment.

I just don't have good luck at all with the G1 Birthflowers.  Last year, I won two off of ebay and the package mysteriously disappeared in the mail.  Then, I won an entire loose set of 12, only to find that they really were not in as good a condition as I thought from the pics.  Now, this happens.

I don't understand how people can't know MINT in BOX usually means DO NOT OPEN.  >_<
That's pretty awful the seller's brother took it upon himself to open them... ( and probably even sadder if he tossed the packaging out  )

That sounds kinda suspicious to me, like, did they send pictures?
I wonder if they just regretted selling them and decided it would be easier to refund you...
Maybe I am just doubtful of stories that sound incredible beyond belief, sorry if I sound jaded
or something, it IS possible ...but.... :tumble:

Oh man. That's terrible. :( I think thats either majorly fishy, or her brother just foolish XD Either way, I'm really sorry, that's so unfair. At least you got a refund though, that is one thing to be greatful of in this situation.

I will keep an eye out on ebay UK and if I see any will PM you links! and again, sorry you had to deal with that, it's really horrible getting your hopes up and then it not working out :( x

The seller's name is  kekambas9.  MIP May was one of the ponies I had won.

Sometimes stuff like this does happen, but unfortunately more often stories of "damage" or a piece being "misplaced" are in hope of a buyer accepting a refund due to a disappointing sale price.

That is awful. I don't know how anyone in their right mind would open an old toy that is mint in box. Not impressed at all. I'm sorry that it has been so hard for you to find the birthflowers and I wish you luck!

Here's the original message I got from the seller:

"Good afternoon, I was just getting ready to ship the ponies to you and I realized that my brother apparently decided it would be a good idea to open the package to check them, I want to check with you ahead of time to see if you still wanted them because I dont want you to think it was intentional of me to put they were unopened even though they were. Please advise, if you still want them I will ship them as soon as I hear from you. Thanks and I apologize for the inconvenience."

Now, there's the possibility that of the five May ITSELF hadn't been opened, but she did use the word "they."  When I messaged her back saying that I didn't want them if THEY had been opened, she did not respond to me.  So, I can only assume that all five of the packages were opened.  She did give me a refund immediately.

I bought something else from this seller ... I hope it gets here it with no problems :(

Oh, that's a bit better then. By fishy I mean more when the seller doesn't give the option of buying anyway. I had one lady who dropped and dented the edge of a MOC as she was packing it up, but let me take it anyway if I still wanted it, or would have refunded me if it were an issue. Lil' Litter kitty for $20 so of course I did still want it.

I'm having a really hard time buying this story. In my experience, when someone is trying to scam people they will always blame someone else. There will always be a stupid brother/flatmate/uncle/cousin etc in the mix.

But if it was a scam she wouldn't have been so quick to refund you. Idk, maybe it's all legit. Just sounds very far-fetched to me.

I feel so bad about all of this, If I had known I wouldn't have accepted the second chance offer.
The seller just updated that the pony has been shipped, so we'll see once she gets here.  :cloud:
