Having fun with blacklight (little pic heavy)
« on: July 29, 2012, 03:05:05 AM »
I'm just experimenting with blacklights for a photography course at Uni and of course the second I turned them on my room lit up! All the ponies, gosh!  Anyway, I only took a few photos (I'm clumsy, broke a bulb and had a sulk til I ordered more online) but here they are!

The first few explore the different plastics of G4 ponies...

(the camera couldn't catch the detail and the vibrancy at the same time but the wings were really bright)

(head doesn't glow much, ignore hooves they've been painted... spike was crazy!)

(feathermay: head and body lit up but hair not so much)

(snowcatcher: only head and hair lit up)

(honeybuzz: only hair lit up!)
As you can see not all brushables glow all over under blacklight.

Here's a Twilight comparison...

Sparkle Twilight! My collection of blind bags are pretty funny too but this one was really intense.

And a G1 that really caught my eye!

These are all legit photos, no photoshop, but some things a camera can't capture properly.
When I get my new blacklights I'm going to go crazy photographing these girls!
Hope this gave you all a giggle at least!

I love taking photos of ponies under blacklight! Mostly stick to g1s because they glow best and g4s usually are two tone due to the type of plastic.

Oh my gosh, Rainbow Dash's eye looks so cool!  I love how her tail and Celestia's teal streak stand out, too.

And JazzMatazz, Starglow looks gorgeous under blacklight!

Now you've got me wanting to play with a blacklight too.  :P

Cool photos! I think a while back someone was experimenting with blacklights to find early signs of pony cancer?

How cool! I was doing something similar with a little UV light. My ponies and MH were so neat looking, all lit up :)

That'd be neat to see. A lot of my G1 have blotchy plastic under blacklight (I hope it's not hints of cancer!) and I know at least one has a spot of cancer but I couldn't find her in my herd to check under blacklight.

This is so cool! We were messing around with a black light a few weeks ago and noticed this on my pony table, too! I didn't know how to get a good pic, but now I might try just to see :) I noticed, its crazy how the heads and bodies react differently :) Thanks for sharing!

These are awesome! Good luck on your photography course as well. I'd love to see some of these as prints/post cards as well. They're freakishly fantastic.
