Pony Brag Arena / Well I finally have Baby Susie
« on: July 09, 2019, 06:48:00 AM »
Quite a lot of European ponies have been turning up in SA just recently, and I have acquired several lovely ponies for my collection. However the most unexpected one was Baby Susie who I bought from someone when I went to fetch some other ponies that I had bought from them and turned around to find her leaning against their fireplace. To say I was gobsmacked is an understatement. Still cannot believe I own her.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Horse ID help
« on: May 16, 2019, 01:56:38 AM »
Hi everyone,

I recently found this horse and despite every effort have not been able to ID him. He is of a size that would be suitable for a Barbie to ride but isn't a:

1. Barbie horse
2. Sindy horse
3. Flower princess horse

There is no maker's mark anywhere to be found, just "Made in China" on the inside of one hind leg.

I really hope someone has come across him before

MLP Nirvana / Unfinished SA Moonstone - photo's added
« on: April 29, 2019, 11:57:48 PM »
Hi everyone,

Very exciting: a friend of mine has acquired an unfinished SA Moonstone. She has no tail or mane holes. I did look in the gallery, so I see that she is not the first to be found like that. What I wanted to ask is what would her value be? My friend is thinking about selling her you see  :)

I do not have photo's yet, but will upload shortly.

Well, here they are:

As you can see, not only is she unfinished she has no horn. She therefore must have Bowtie's head and not her own - does everyone agree?

In addition to that my friend has indeed decided to sell her. So much so that she is currently up for sale on a local South African auction site. The auction will run until 21 May, I'm not sure as to the rules? Perhaps people can search for it? Am I permitted to post the name of the auction site? It is not my auction.

The Dollhouse / Barbie identification
« on: April 05, 2019, 12:42:55 AM »
Where would one go to ID Barbie dolls? I have 5 that I need to ID, but no clue as to where to do this. I assume there must be sites that do this though: please could someone point me in the right direction if possible?

Customs / Hair colour match queries
« on: March 26, 2019, 03:19:49 AM »
Hi there everyone!

I know this is not strictly a 'customs' query so please move it if I have put it in the wrong place  :)

I have a sad Baby Pictures and a hairless Toola Roola who I want to restore. But I do not know which colours they need, can anyone help?

Pony Corral / Spring Fever's Mane Colours
« on: March 20, 2019, 04:48:33 AM »
Hiya everyone,

As you know, I mainly collect G1. But sometimes those pesky G3's sneak in when I am not looking. And Spring Fever is sneakier than others as she has managed it twice.

I already had one, that I was more than happy with when another came up in a lot of bait ponies. She is extremely (extremely!) faded on one side. I will try to fade the other side to match as I really like the 'new' colour actually. But that isn't the point. What I am wondering about is the arrangement of the colours in her mane opposed to those of my original girl. Are they two different versions? I did go and have a look on the Wiki, but that does not show the hair, so now I have come here to ask you guys :)

Spoiler
My original pony is always on the left and the new girl on the right in all photos:

Oh how faded we are...

Customs / Sundance had a Makeover
« on: January 22, 2019, 01:51:35 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Sundance was sad because she has a pen mark on her back, and had no tail. Poor pony. So I thought I would cheer her up with a new look. Now of course she needs a New Name, because she isn't Sundance any longer. I had thought of Moondance, as that is what her colours suggest, but that is just so closer to Moondancer. Oh the agony of indecision! Blizzard and Star Dust also came to mind, but Moondance really fits her best in my mind: anyone have an opinion on this?

Here she is:

Pony Corral / Help for TAF Buttons
« on: January 21, 2019, 02:25:30 AM »
Hi everyone!

I recently acquired a (very) sad TAF Buttons. She has rather bad head/body mismatch. Her head matches my other Buttons, but her body is a lovely buttery yellow. I first though it might have faded, but the symbols seem to be the same colour as on my other girl so I have no clue as to what happened.

Of course I would prefer her head to match her body so I was thinking about sun fading her head as I know the blues usually fade first. However I am not sure whether her body is lighter due to fading because of the colour of the symbols. Any suggestions?

Pony Corral / Batch Difference Research - Help Needed!
« on: August 24, 2018, 02:57:26 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I have been looking a lot at batch differences in ponies and how that might affect them. This is one of the small things that apparently interests me and helps to pass the time. I would like to start off with Pinwheel, a pony famous for age spots. What I have noticed is that there appear to be two distinct batches.

Pinwheel 1 (left):
She is a redder pink, has BLUE sticks on her pinwheels, and has airbrushed eyes.

Pinwheel 2 (right):
She is a colder, more lilac toned pink, has LILAC sticks on her pinwheels, and has stamped eyes.

Now, I see Pinwheel 1 almost always has age spots, but Pinwheel 2 almost never. So, what I am getting at here is there may be a nice way of checking out whether your future purchase of Pinwheel may be prone to age spots or not.

Where I need your help is with confirmation of my theory: please could everyone who has the time and inclination check which Pinwheel they have and whether their girl does or does not have age spots? I think this could be fun  :)

In addition, what state is their hair in? With my two, P1 has great hair, and P2, not so great... of course!

Hi everyone!

I have just acquired these two sad ponies:

And I would like to turn poor Tootsie into a custom Mimic and rehair Moonstone as Blue Moon. Where I need some help please is with the hair colour matches.

I looked up the colours for Mimic and they were:
Electric Banana
Envy
Pussycat
Sugarberry
Can anyone confirm whether these are correct?

And for Blue Moon I could not find any reference but from the picture on the Wiki it looks like Atomic Turquoise or possibly Water Nixie. Does anyone know?

I would really appreciate your help!

MLP Nirvana / South African Pony Rooting - Restoration Complete
« on: August 03, 2018, 02:26:58 AM »
Well, my dream finally happened. Though not exactly how I thought it might: I finally discovered a South African Pony. Yes, indeed, I promise I did. And my world is now complete. However, the girl has no hair except one last remaining tuft in her mane. But I don't actually care, I love her!

What I thought might be interesting to others is this: it is now very easy to see the unique rooting of an SA Pony

Thus:

I will be rehairing her and as luck would have it I already have suitable hair. I can therefore also take a photo of the inside of her head and tail if anyone should be interested.

Pony Corral / Help with Yellow Moondancer
« on: July 25, 2018, 01:57:01 AM »
Hi Everyone!

I will be going to fetch some ponies on Saturday and one is supposedly Yellow Moondancer. She is not for me, but for my friend. I just need to verify that she is indeed YELLOW Moondancer. Is there something that I can look out for? Is she so definitely yellow that there is no mistaking it? I have the responsibility to get this right: I don't want to let my friend down. So any help or advice would be so much appreciated!

Pony Corral / How Far Can Sunfading Take You?
« on: July 12, 2018, 03:16:36 AM »
Hello everyone!

Once upon a time in England there was this small child who clearly had deeply rooted issues regarding their possessions. And ensuring that everyone in their vicinity, and indeed in this case for ever after, knew that their things belonged to them and them alone. And so as evidence I bring to you Exhibit A:

Wig Wam:

And don't think that you can turn the poor guy around, because you can't:

Why Ella, why?!

Now, in a different part of the world there was another small child who felt the urge to embellish her ponies. They just were not decorated enough, oh no! Which brings me to Exhibit B:

Tootsie:

So my question to you all it this: can these ponies be rescued by sun fading? Has anyone successfully completed a project such as this? And if you have, please do share!

Pony Brag Arena / So I was really and truly SPOILT
« on: June 25, 2018, 02:40:30 AM »
It was my birthday not so very long ago and by now it has been well and truly drummed into my family and friends that ponies are most acceptable as gifts.

From my dad (pre-spa day, sorry!):

From my husband - did I mention how much I love my husband?

And from my amazing friend, who did this as a surprise without me having the slightest flicker of a suspicion. The only pony that I had already was Sparkler. She also made the carousel:

She isn't on the arena, but I wish she was. I feel so blessed and special to have a friend like her.
