Has anyone ever dealt with shadow-4654 on ebay or is this person a member here? I honestly cannot decide if a communication I had with them was a wind up....or am I just being silly and missing something really really obvious....it should be pointed out that having bid on all items, after the last message which I hadnt even sussed out how to answer they cancelled all their bids!!!! I really have to restrain myself from sending a "thanks for cancelling...what a time waster" kind of message lol!!!
From buyer to me

From buyer to me
I am making sure $2.50 cent's to the US for each one or for all three, Cat! I am making sure! Thanks! XXX
From me to buyer
Hiya
No not $2.50 dollars it would be £2.50 british pounds -pounds not dollars.
And £2.50 would be for 1, 2 or for all 3 of them -individually or together they all come under the weight limit for a small royal mail airmail package.
Thanks
Cat
From buyer to me
How much would it be I am asking]
From me to buyer
Sorry, I dont know how to be any clearer on this!
Shipping for one pony = £2.50 total
Shipping for two ponies = £2.50 total
Shipping for three ponies = £2.50 total
The shipping is in UK£ Pounds not US dollars.
Hope this makes sense
Cat
From buyer to me
No, it doe's not make any sense to me at all!

I can't help ya out with that one. But I did have a good chuckle
-
Another strange one.
-
Um... wow... someone is completely oblivious to the fact that there is more than just US$ for currency in the world :silly:
But if they're old enough to collect unemployment, you'd think they'd have picked up on that fact by now :what:
-
Maybe someone who is young that does not understand that other countries use different currencies and you have to convert from GBP to USD if they want to know what it would be APPROXIMATELY in USD? (I capitalize approximately, as the converter on e-bay/paypal is sometimes different than other converters that are out there by just a little bit).
Post Merge: January 25, 2012, 03:47:10 PM
I think I would have sent them a link to a currency conversion site...oi!
-
Tell this:
If you buy one pony, postage is 2,50.
If you buy two ponies, postage is 2,50.
If you buy three ponies, postage is 2,50.
If you buy many more, postage grows.
That one isn't the smartest one, it seems.
Edit: and also that approximate. xe.com is quite good.
-
definitely a weird one  I would have said young as well, but if they are collecting unemployment benefits then they cant be that young :yikes: . And yeah they dont get the currency conversion thing at all :drunk: I use xe currency converter to let international buyers how much the cost in GBP would be in their own currency , but TBH I'm not sure this buyer would understand that either - it sounds like they are new to buying internationally :awake: . I'm sorry to hear that they wasted your time, but it might have been best for you that they cancelled the bids at this stage.
-
Hehe I'm sorry, but the whole conversation is kinda funny...you were pretty clear about what you were saying...maybe english wasn't their first language?
And you kept replying, that was very nice of you! Many ebay sellers only reply to my first question and then leave me hanging :P And I don't think I'm weird...well, not much anyway
-
Thanks for the comments guys....in the light of a new day it is more funny that annoying lol!!
I think I ll simply add as a blocked bidder just in case they suddenly reappear at the last minute to bid...it is odd though they have a high positive feedback rating and most other items are all FiM - maybe just someone having a weird few days....never mind!!!
-
I started a thread about this person on the old Arena, but didn't mention her name. I had an auction listed for that full size, white Celestia custom that I did. I had a low starting price with no reserve (and no bids).
If I recall correctly she contacted me and wanted to buy my item if there were no other bids, told me she wasn't sure when she could pay, and that since she was on unemployment she was going to re-sell "for a good profit" to make extra cash.
So, essentially she wanted me to sell her my hard work and creativity at a bargain basement price with no guarantee on when I would get the money (money that my taxes fund) and watch her resell it for a profit. I promptly put a reserve on my custom and blocked her.
She was always very polite though and did contact me more than once to "talk". I just ignored her after my first and only response.
Not to make any unfounded accusations, but there did seem to be some odd things with her selling and feedback history as well (especially her ended auctions back when I looked her up - end of 2011 or so).
-
E-bay can be such a freakshow. I mean...I have my dumb days on there, but seriously? xD
You've handled it really well though. :)
-
That was the same person I posted about in WYP!!!
http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,285045.0.html
She kept asking for my name... which is just plain weird.
-
currency calculator: simply use google! you have to type in:
xx eur in pounds
or whatever you wanna calculate and google does it for you :]
-
I think this one will go on my block list!
You were super patient with trying to answer all of their crazy questions!
-
I'm glad the arena has a place for posts like this so we can all watch out for these types of buyers/sellers!
-
A bit odd it is... but thanks for the laughs! :lmao:
I think she does not know how to calculate the shipping to USD.
I guess she understood the price in pounds, but wanted to know how many dollars that is.
-
Lol...I should update you all on this....
The auctions are over but the conversation continues - I am now getting messages along the same lines as you Evening_Moonstone about the bids being cancelled because of something to do with unemployment changing. I initially didnt really care why the bids were cancelled and I can assure you the person went straight into blocked bidders as soon as the cancellation occurred. But I do object to someone misusing the ebay system to cancel bids - when you bid you commit to buy dont you? Its only if the item changes or if you entered the wrong amount that you can cancel? In most ways I would rather people cancel if it simply turns out I would otherwise have a NPB but to bid so high and then cancel so close to the end I think is unfair on me as the seller....or am I being a little silly?
I know I shouldnt have deteriorated into an on going conversation with this person but if they hadnt sent me the message I would have managed to hold my tongue!!! Grrrrr....I am promising you all after that last message I am not answering any more of their cheeky messages!! Lol
*Deep breath....thinking of a happy place*

Please keep us posted. I'm curious to see what happens next from this wacky bidder.
I added the person to my block list as soon as I got a cancellation from them. I have not responded to any of their messages since, but I'm curious what they are still "chatting" with you about if they cancelled the bid on your stuff.

The conversation is just as much in circles as the original shipping conversation but the topic is a little different!....they messaged me about why they cancelled and I emailed back to say thats fine thank you for cancelling but politely advised to be careful of carelessly withdrawing bids its not a part of ebay policy - I dont think she took my "thank you for cancelling" very well as then she messaged me back calling me "crazy" and apparently she doesnt need to go by "my damn policies"....lol....is it bad I am enjoying myself now? Nothing else since....no doubt I ll get another message back and I as per the above I intend to delete but I am kinda annoyed about being called crazy. This from the same woman who asked about 4 times on shipping!
-
I echo the sentiment~ thanks for the amusing read!
Wow! What a wack job! This is just another reason I refuse to sell items on eBay anymore.

SHE called YOU crazy? That's a laugh riot! Is her last name Pot or Kettle? XD
Seriously, though, I thought maybe she was just a confused person. Maybe not the brightest bulb, but not a bad bulb either. But that message she sent you...yeah, that was not cool at all. I'd be annoyed too, if I wasn't cracking up at the hypocrisy!
-
The whole thing has been a bit of a giggle now...I was going with "nice-ish person just easily confused" until the last message....as long as I dont have an ebay stalker now!!!
And I know what you mean Clones - is it just me or in the last 12 months have a significant number of people on ebay just gone a little cracker-jack!
-

you are totally right - theres definitely more than the usual share of crazies on ebay lately :drunk:
This is just another one to add to the list :P the whole thing is still kinda funny , but her last message was pretty rude! :throw:
-
I don't know what is up with the ammount of people bidding & either withdrawing bids or winning the item & then not paying for it. Ebay needs a good kick in the pants. This one sounds particularly painful, it drives me mental when someone bids an item up & then pulls out at the last minute, you could have had other people that may have been interested but because it got up too high have backed out. Its just not fair on the seller.
I hope all these horrible customers sell one day, and they get customers that are ten times as bad as themselves.
-
You should be submitting this to that website, 'emails from crazy people'.

*giggles*
But seriously, a lack of respect from your 'buyer'.
If i were you, i would not even respond to one that shows a lack of respect like that. You stand waaay above that! And with no responding from you, she might stop stalking :D

Just saw this thread. I sold a few G4 coloring books to this person, shadow----, back in June 2011. Apparently, she uses her unemployment checks to buy pony items. The first time she bought from me, after the auction ended, she asked if she could pay in a week. I was thinking--I wish you had asked before the auction ended. I usually like payment within 4 days. Then she won another of my auctions a week later, and paid a week later. I stopped selling G4 coloring books because I was sick of her winning my auctions--lol. She did pay, I was just annoyed by the late payment. Her messages to me were very confusing too.
-
*cough cough* methinks there's a reason she's unemployed....
The emails I get from the Chinese are more understandable than this :|
-
Wha? You mean there are other countries with their own money?!
-
Some -possible- buyers are... strange o.O
That's why I give an approximate shipping shipping cost and just before buying check the correct price (that crazy daily currency changes ¬¬X).
But you were more than clear that 1-3 ponies have the exact shipping price, and told a lot of times that were GBP and not USD...

To the OP:
Thanks for the laugh. That first post was hilarious.
But on a serious note, you should report this person. When a buyer retracts a bid, you HAVE to report it for it to show up on their record.
If you check your email that your ebay account is attached to you will see that ebay sends you a message for every bid retraction (it won't be in Ebay messages). They give you an option to report. REPORT EVERY SINGLE ONE. The buyer will have no idea you did so but it will be on their record.
Furthermore, have you checked to see if she has any bid retractions before? You can see on her feedback page. It's easy to miss. Let me know if you need help finding it.

I'm curious where would you find bid retractions on a members feedback page?
-
If you go into someone's feedback and click on Feedback as a Buyer, it is in wee little letters in the right hand corner.

Oh I see where it is now--I've never noticed it before. Does ebay do anything to the member if they have so many bid retratcions in 12 months?

I swear to god it's like Ebay tries to make it hard to see the bid retractions. That's why you've never noticed it before :-)
Yes, Ebay definitely punishes for bid retractions. I don't know the exact number but there have been people who have suddenly gotten their accounts suspended because they have retracted too many bids.
It's the same thing with cases. Ebay doesn't right out say that if you open so-and-so many cases against sellers that you will get suspended but they do do it. It's all very hush hush and random. I think it's an automated algorithm and suddenly you get suspended.
So yeah, even though Ebay favors buyers too much in many cases they can get banned or suspended for:
1. Not paying
2. Retracting bids
3. Opening too many cases (even if they win every one, it stays on their record. Open too many and they look fishy and may get banned or suspended).
The retracting bids is the ONLY one out of these three that doesn't automatically go on their record. That's why it's very important to make sure sellers report it. Every time you report it it does go on their record.
This is also why if a buyer asks me to remove a bid I will no longer do it. I only do it if they made a bid by accident and they tell me within a reasonable amount of time. I have made a mistake and bid on an item before but I never bid on an item for multiple days and then asked a seller to remove it. That's ridiculous.
Anyways, I just wanted to inform about the retracting bids and reporting it because many sellers aren't even aware that Ebay sends them an email. So now you know :-)
-
I did report her for the retractions - mainly because the result was that 2 out of the 3 items she had bid on ended up with 2 NPB and I was kind of annoyed and felt she was partly to blame for the fact that people may have thought they were out bid and purchased the item elsewhere thereby leaving them as the winning bidder on an auction they had dropped out from. I think someone else - Moonstorm - had the same issue with this buyer retracting bids on her too...
What I never understand is where is the ebay "strikes" or "account restrictions" - problem buyers never seem to have anything done to them!

Good for you on reporting her!
Those will bite her in the butt eventually. Don't worry.
For the other two bidders I would file a non-bidder against them because it's not really their fault. Once I get outbid I forget all about the item.
In any case, hopefully you can relist your items now and get the full price they deserve. I recently had a lady bid on a bunch of items and cancel 2 days before the auction ended. I of course, ended the auction early so that I could relist it.
-
hehehehehe this is really funny, that person does appear to be a little bit missing the point >.<
