Title: Show Me Your Hasbro-Bradley Ponies!
Post by: MerryAnvil on March 22, 2018, 01:54:54 PM
So this morning while I was looking over some of my ponies that still need spa days, I noticed my Morning Glory had 'Bradley' stamped on her hoof below the usual Hasbro, which I had somehow never taken note of before. A little bit of research on some older threads on here revealed something I had never heard of, even in 15 years of off-and-on collecting. If you're as clueless as I was about it, the thread with the information can be found here (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,296646.msg202771.html#msg202771)!  It fascinated me, so I decided to look at the rest of my collection to see if I had any other Hasbro-Bradley ponies. Turns out, I actually have a few!

Here are mine!

Paradise

No pics because boy is it hard to see under her flocking even with it dampened, but I just discovered that my Paradise also has the Bradley stamp!

Do you have any ponies stamped with Bradley in your collection? If so, I'd love to see them or hear about them! Things like this really interest me, and I'd love to see which ones have been stamped as such.

Huh, never noticed that before!  I will have to look now.  I thought these were going to be about MB Spanish ponies or something.

If I remember right it's because of Hasbro's merger with Milton Bradley at some point in the early-mid 1980s. The ponies from that time period - and sometimes the moulds after that point - often show Hasbro Bradley...

I remember more discussion about this a long time ago but sadly we don't seem to talk about stuff like this so much any more, so the knowledge just gets lost. :/ It's great you brought it up :)

Edit: and out of a time capsule, as if by magic...

Goodness, US newspapers have excellent online archives o.O.

Ooh! Do tell me if you find anything!

Ah yeah! It's so interesting. I used to be fascinated by the differences in the Breyer and Reeves stamps on Breyer horses, so it's neat to see that MLP had something similar!

Lol we Americans like to hoard information I think :p At one point I was doing research on liquidated Japanese swords from after WWII (I'm kind of a huge sword fan and I had a theory I wanted to work on),  and I managed to find reports from the Foreign Liquidation Commission from the 40's that some universities had put online. I'm honestly surprised this stuff was kept, let alone put up for the public to read, but it worked in my favor anyways.

I'm in the middle of packing up my ponies, so not everyone is out to check, but so far alot of my Speedy pose ponies are Bradley:  Speedy, Beachball, Tuneful, Streaky, Hula, NSS Buttons, and Bouquet.  But so are my Floater and Masquerade, Braided Beauty, Raspberry Jam, Whizzer, Tall Tales.  Wow, so alot!!!  Maybe its certain poses?

Huh, you really do learn something new every day. I've never seen this on any of my ponies, but of course my G1 herd isn't very big (if you don't count my Posey army lol)

My Wind Whistler is a Hasbro Bradley pony! I remember looking at her hooves and thinking "Hasbro who?" then going and looking up about it.

*after going and ogling pony hooves* Turns out my Sweetstuff is Hasbro Bradley too.

Oh, could very well be! A lot of the Year 4 TEs seem to have it in general, as well :o But it's quite interesting that you have ponies with it that are Year 6 and well past into Year 9. From what I've seen so far from the other posts, Year 4 seems to be the more common one for them (so like 1985-1986). Could be that the ones you have came from a factory that was slow to replace the Hasbro-Bradley molds/stamps, or perhaps never replaced them at all? Fascinating!

Huh, you really do learn something new every day. I've never seen this on any of my ponies, but of course my G1 herd isn't very big (if you don't count my Posey army lol)

Hehe Posey is great though! <3

So definitely looks like many of the Year 4 Whizzers/Whizzer Poses and the Year 4 TEs were stamped that way. Neat! I think my Paradise might be as well but her flocking is so thick on her hooves that I can't tell lol, and I really don't want to damage it to find out. Maybe I'll try getting her hoof wet later and see!

Edit: Yep, she is!

Yay, our Sky Rockets can be Bradley buddies! *hoof bumps them together*

I checked all of my Year 4 TEs and all of them (Galaxy, Whizzer, Sweet Pop, Speedy, Sky Rocket, Party Time) have it. My one Year 5 TE (Tic-Tac-Toe) does not. What I'm wondering is are there any Year 4 TE ponies that don't say Hasbro-Bradley? I find it interesting that all six of my Year 4 TEs have it. Haven't checked all of my other ponies yet, so I'm not sure who outside of these TEs have it in my collection.

So interesting! It makes sense that MB was in charge of making and distributing MLPs in Spain in the G1 era, then  :wow:
