Title: Is it weird that I get excited about new ponies?
Post by: BrinnyTheBrave on October 19, 2017, 07:48:50 PM
This might be a dumb question and I wasn't sure where to put this  :P but I get really excited and happy when I think about my wish list and future purchases. Right now I'm collecting non-MLP stuff (Breyer Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron), and it makes me passionate and happy to be slowly growing my collection. Does anyone else get like this?

Yes! I only really collect G1s but never find them in thrift stores for some reason. Maybe every six months I find a G1 or two, so my collection grows very slowly. When I think about the possibility of finding one I get so excited!

You wouldn't be on a toy forum if it was. ;)

You're on a forum about collecting ponies, I'm sure most of us, if not all of us, get excited about getting new ponies!

Oh so much! And getting them home, and giving them a spa day. And ribbons, they never have ribbons poor ponies! Though I never find any in thrift shops so my excitement consists of going online to buy and then to the post office to fetch my parcel and getting it home and unwrapping it.

It's like christmas, but better, because I know I'll be getting ponies!

Me too! Kingsday (huge fleamarkets everywhere in The Netherlands, with mostly TOYS!) is the day I'm waiting for all year, every year. I actually get really bad stomach pains the day before the Big Day, because I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Oooo I get super excited! :D I love working on my wishlist, love buying new ponies (and it's a rare treat these days, so it's extra fun!) - except for the wait to get them home xD and I loveee pony spa days. (I do tend to put it off for later tho to save the fun for a "better day". idek. xD )

Bootsales - my tummy twists in excitement as I drive in and park up - especially if I see LOTS of seller tables and it is a sunny day...

There is a huge one on in the summer just on the edge of London that I once found a whole collection of g1 ponies/boys for sale. I look back on that day as "wow".

Then ebay pony mail - Christmas parcel opening hahah!

And my husband's work pal in the USA sometimes gets me a few USA ebay g1s; when any of the guys travel to the UK, they pop the pony in their luggage to take for me.

Yesterday, my first ever adult Quackers arrived - woohoo! She is now with her baby

Yes, you can certainly say that I get excited about new ponies!  :newpony:

I love the anticipation of finding G1's at the thrift. I often wish I were a G3 collector because there are so many of them where I live, but that kind of takes the fun out it...the rarity is part of the excitement! EBay and pony mail are the ultimate, though. I keep going back to check the tracking over and over again...and when they arrive I do a little dance and WOOHOO! But I also force myself to do all my chores and stuff before I'm allowed to open them. It's my way of prolonging the sweet agony AND getting stuff done at the same time!

I'd be far more concerned if you were on a pony forum and buying ponies didn't make you happy ;)
I haven't bought ponies in a long time - for space saving reasons, mostly - but I totally get what you mean. Especially finding them in thrift stores that usually have nothing, it's like getting toys for Christmas when you were fully expecting socks :P

It's not weird at all! Personally, I absolutely freak out when I get new ponies, especially if I find them in the wild or they're one I've been looking for for a while.

I second this. :)  Whether it is pony mail or a flea market find, I get really happy.

I'm getting a new pony!  And I'm pretty excited.  So if it's weird, you're not the only one.  :)

I get so excited when I see any ponies in thrift stores! Most thrift stores around here don't seem to sell many toys, or if they do, they only have G4s (which I still scoop up) and fakies. I've had many antiquing trips that end with no ponies at all! Perhaps it's conditioned me to treasure ponyfinds more.
