Avatar help? Are they down, or am I doing something wrong?

Mine still does not work... I deleated it, because uploading again did not help and i wanted to see if the change would be saved this way. It did (i think?)
Will upload again when problems are fixed..hopefully soon.

I can see everyone elses, but not mine.  It makes me a sad panda, as I actually don't have a copy of that avatar on this computer, so there is nothing I can do. 

I can see yours xeevee so I have just grabbed the thumb size version of it...do you want me to upload it here for you although I am sure once the gallery corrects itself you ll see it again.

I guess its a just not being able to see your own avatar issue at the moment then.  What a weird thing to happen.  Thanks for saving it for me, cat.  If you could upload it for me that would be great, but I'm happy to wait for a few days to see if the problem gets sorted out first.

Mine's still gone as well, and I tend to recognize people more by their avatars than their name, so it gets really confusing. Are they going to come back, or should I just give up on having an avatar again? For like the first year I was here I didn't have an avatar because I didn't feel like finding one and uploading it. And I don't have a backup of mine, either, so I hope they'll come back.

I can see yours fine, but about six others in this thread, including myself appear to not have avatars.

EDIT: Aaand, it's gone. That's so weird. I could see your avatar, but when I refreshed the page to see if there were any new replies, your avatar vanished.

Can anyone see mine? I had thought it was something wrong on my end and tried to re-upload it, but of course, that didn't work, so now I'm wondering if I accidentally got rid of my avatar entirely, on top of not being able to see it myself.

Good thing it wasn't just me! I thought it was my computer, was about to post about it, but then I saw that you all had already. Mine's a red x in a box, and when I tried to change it, I got this message:

The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.

I was also having issues viewing the Arena on my iPod the other day. Other than the Home and Forum buttons, every other button at the top of the screen dissapeared, and most of the symbols and images throughout the site were gone as well. Was this caused by the same thing?

Those who can still see images are either seeing the cached version from the memory of their browsers, or else the avatars are linked from off site. So if you refresh, many will disappear.

I am getting this error too.  I wanted to change my avatar and I can't...
