Question about Minty I

I'm going through my loose ponies, trying to get them cleaned up and priced, and I ran across Minty I, BUT I sorta remember something about her hoof heart.  Most pics I see of her do not show a hoof heart, implying there wasn't one or it's on the other side.  My Minty has the hoof heart on her display side, so I wanted to get some clarification on that. Which version is she really?

you are correct there are two versions where one has hoof heart on display side and then one with hoof heart on the non-display side... dunno why they did it that way but they did :-)

dunno why this happened if it was to differentiate minty in a playset vs as a single or somesuch so maybe someone else knows that part of the story

The very first version of Minty had white stripes mixed in with the pink in her mane, red paint on the candy stripes, and a red hoof heart on the non-magnet (display side) hoof. This was the original version that came in the Promo Packs... the info on the Wiki is wrong, the Promo Pack edition was the first version released. I remember, I was collecting as an adult in my 20's when these first came out and the promo packs were the only way you could get Minty, Butterscotch, Autumn Skye, and Starswirl at first.

Shortly after they first released G3, they changed the hoof heart placement so that the hoof heart was always on the hoof with the magnet. So if your Minty has a red hoof heart on the display (non-magnet) side, she is one of the Promo Pack (first edition) Mintys.

Thanks!  I thought there was something like that going on, I just couldn't remember.  I know I bought the ponies as they came out, so it's very likely I got the promos for my daughter to play with. 

I wanted to make sure I had them listed in the sales correctly, for anyone looking for a specific version.
