Title: Couriers
Post by: Artemesia's Garden on August 17, 2021, 11:42:55 AM
So, couriers kind of loosened up thier requirements during COVID, has anyone else noticed them tightening up again recently? Last week I orderred some bits of wood and APC left the package around the back of my house with a note through the door. Happy days. I then ordered more from the same seller using the same courier. Today I got a knock on the door, saw the courier and ignored it (I was busy) thinking he would do the same as last week. However he started walking off with the parcel! So I opened the door on the chain. In the end he insisted on me taking the door off the chain so he could take a photo, becuase he needed to "see a little bit the inside of your house". He wasn't wearing a mask, not standing 2m back and didn't show me any ID. I did it but regretted it afterwards and put in a complaint to the courier. Does sanyone else think this is incredibly creepy?

Wait, what? Take a photo and see inside your house? None of that sounds ok to me!

Um... that doesn't sound right. Here, Amazon takes photos of the package left at your door, as proof they delivered it, but I've never had someone ask to see inside my place

At least you complained. I had problems with a FedEx driver and complained, and since haven't had any more problems.

They still leave them on the step here at the moment if they don't get a reply.

We had a courier today during the shopping delivery and he just kind of leaned over and gave it to me while I was putting stuff in bags from Tesco.

Some of those delivery drivers still leave bags outside the door then knock, some insist on you packing bags now, so it's probably a range between companies.

Our neighbourhood people tend to know each other and things have been left on the step for an hour or two before being noticed without being taken, which is nice. Our neighbours also take in parcels for us, though, and we do for them as well. So sometimes the knock at the door is followed by the arm of a neighbour trying to deliver a package while socially distancing xD

I have another culprit - Hermes have now started doing the same thing. So I went around the side of the house and stood 2m away in person... but she still wouldn't leave it. So I'm afraid I was quite rude. I do not want people taking pictures inside my house. I have notified the ebay seller and asked him to specify that it's left in a safe place. It was a £60 item which doesn't help my mood. I will let you know what he says. Ebay certified brand shipping today by UPS was fine, no problem. He left it by the front door.
